Music is Healing

My Son is learning to play the Guitar and the Keyboards.  I have always thought that it was such a talent when one can play a musical instrument.  I used to take piano lessons when I was little, but I never followed through with it, and can only play a couple of songs.  The girls used to play the Clarinet when they were in school, and would come home and show us what they learned.  It is such a thrill for me to listen to my son while he plays his guitar.

"Music is a moral law.  It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything."
~Plato

Do you play any musical instruments?

I wish I did but no. The melody that comes from are my words ... I had all our children & kid-lings learn tho. Feel it is as needed as reading a book, the doorway to the world.

Have a beautiful day ~

It's so nice your son is learning the guitar and keyboards! I'm not musically inclined (can't even sing well, but I wish I could!) But I have 2 nephews who sing and play the guitar and are in a rock band. They're both self-taught and very good - they amaze me! Good luck to your son!

How awesome for your son!!
Thank you for inviting me to view your sweet post!! I have 2 sons, and no girls, so I am partial to boys!! LOL!!
My small son Marshall plays trumpet. He is 12, but has been playing for 3 years. His teacher said he should try out for all county this year!!
I used to play french horn, all through school and a little bit after, but unfortunately stopped :(
Thanks again!! Tell your son he is awesome!!

Oh how I wish I did. I've always had a hankering to play the guitar but never did. My son and husband can play guitar and I have a nephew that can play anything. I get jealous..lol.. just joking. I wish I could hear your son, I bet it is so great...

Hi Sheri, Plato is soooooo right!!! Glad your son is learning to play the guitar. It is such a great instrument and can "go anywhere you go". I know he'll be glad he took it up. Sure is hard on the end of your fingers when you first start--gotta build up those calluses before the "excruciating pain" goes away. Have a lovely weekend. Mickie :)

How wonderful that your son is learning guitar!
My son played for two years then switched to piano and loves it. He is now playing the French horn in band class this year in grade 7!
Music is my passion i love to see young people embrace it. I wish i could play an instrument!
Hope your son sticks to it...he will be glad he did in the years to come!

So glad you're encouraging your son to play guitar. It's a skill that will bring him joy throughout his life. My mom and dad played piano by ear and were so good. They also both sang together and harmonized naturally, but I did not inherit their talent. They were the life of all the parties though, as everyone loves to hear music, and loves the one who makes it!

I've always want to play something, but never took the time. I'm too impatient I guess! Hope he turns out to be a rock star!!

Hi Sheri, I love music and love to sing along with the radio. But, I have absolutely NO musical ability. I can't even read music. Never took any kind of music lessons. Always wished I could sing. I think when the good Lord asked if I wanted music I thought he said, hmmm are you sick, and I said, 'no'. lol!

I have always wanted to learn to play the piano...
Maybe someday!
Have a great day today!

Hi sweet friend.
Randy had me at the "guitar" when we first met. He would sing to me and when I was pregnant for Brittany, he would sing and play to her. I think that's why she is so talented today. Music is mathematical in nature, so your son must have good grades, right??
I'm back from N.C. but just can't get motivated. Mom's private burial is Nov. 4th. Another day of tears. It seems it hits me at the weirdest times. The good news is that I am now a Great Aunty as of last night. My first.
I've missed you.

I play the piano, and wish I had more time for it. My son also plays guitar, and my daughters play piano. It's always such a joy to hear them play.

I like you took piano lessons when young, but did not complete them, now I have forgotten everything. My son took a few lessons when he was young, but like me , did not continue. Must run in the family. But he did have a drum set he was very good (and loud) at.
Blessings~

How wonderful, best of luck to your son with his new endeavor... you are going to sooo enjoy him playing music...I love that my sons had the desire to learn to play the guitar several years ago, I remember that Christmas that he (my oldest) wanted that guitar. I remember those early years of learning and how amazing it was to me when He could eventually play. My home has been filled with guitar music (classic rock and roll mostly) for many years now, but they can play mostly anything they want to... my sons both play and are self taught...well the older one taught himself and then he taught the younger one. He knew at that time that we couldn't afford lessons, but I was so happy that he pursued his dream anyway...I always knew they could do anything they set their minds too and them learning to play that guitar really proved it and secretly surprised me too lol! I love to hear them play and am so proud of them for following their dreams enough to learn how to play. My youngest has won 2nd place in two school talent contests and he was once so shy in school when he was in grade school. I know you are so proud of your son ...enjoy every minute of this journey, it will be something that you will always cherish and hold very close to your heart, I promise :)
Big hugs,
Queenie

Ahhhhhh....yes, I do. I play the harp. AND TONIGHT, I must play her, for now with my Etsy shop, I am keeping even MORE BUSY!

Sheri dearest, thank you for visiting my art gallery! And I am glad to hear that you like my Audrey print with the red and black; she doesn't seem to be selling, so I may pull her off or let that item sit until it gets pulled off by Etsy. But I just started last Saturday and have already made 10 sales...not bad, I guess!

MERCI BEAUCOUP! Anita

More than healing, music is preventive I think.

Both my kids are quite musical as we insisted they should learn some instrument so they played the guitar (the first for both) then Organ and Flute (for her) and Bass (for him). The after-the-first-suggestion-choices were theirs and we let them find and enjoy what they liked and wanted to play.

My son is now babying the idea of having a garage band with some friends in MY garage.

Girl, that adds a new dimension to the wor(l)d Mother Love ahahahahah.

Wishing the best to your "Robert Johnson".

Teresa

Thank you for stopping by so I could find you. I have been scrolling through your blog and find it's lots of fun and very interesting. I happen to love music and be very involved with music so I had to leave my comment here. So thrilled to hear your son is learning the guitar and keyboards. Music is so important for so many reasons and every genre appeals to someone. I grew up on Rock & Roll and now also love jazz and classical. In the morning I listen to R&R to wake me up and get me going and on the way home from work I listen to classical to ease my aching nerves! Great Post!
