When I was growing up, there was a big plum tree in the neighborhood, and me and my friends would hide in one of the bushes, and when no one was out in the yard, we would pick the plums that had fallen to the ground and eat and enjoy. It was an ornamental tree so the fruit was edible, but the quality was not the best. The owner of the house used to get angry when the kids would do this. A couple times we saw them looking out the window as we scurried away. I was never scolded or got in trouble though, as the house belonged to my uncle, my dad's brother. ; ) Kids will sometimes be mischievous during the hot summer days. I'm very close to my aunt and uncle, who are still living in that same house today. They are in their 90's, and although the plum tree has been cut down since then, I will always remember the silly childhood fun all of us had in the neighborhood.
*I don't think this is a plum tree,
but it sure looks like the one in the front yard of my uncle's house.
