Our Things

We all have our favorite
things that we
look at each day,
treasures of the heart,
and here are
a few of mine.  : )

My favorite tea cup.
It has a bird
on the other side too.

I've had my china hutch
for many years.

Girl dressed in white
and white glitter
roses.
The words say
Living with passion.

My favorite pic of the girls
on a 1920's night out.

Paperweight on my desk.

Jasmine candle,
me and Nel's favorite
scent.

Love blue in the home.

He is the happiest,
be he King or peasant,
who finds peace
in his home.

Blue Stained Glass Ceiling

Over the weekend, we checked out the venue where Jess will be having her wedding reception.  It was really a lovely place, and we sampled different foods the whole time, which made it even more delightful.  Here are a few pics of the venue to share with you.

This was the walkway to the garden area.

Although Jess will get married in the church, the brides have an option to get married at this sweet gazebo that is in the center of the garden area.

This waterfall, with its flowing aqua water, was pretty.

As we walked inside the reception area, I noticed the ceiling and light fixtures right away.  Can you see the faces on each side of the stained glass on the second pic?

We looked at three tables to get ideas for the seating.  Jess liked the candles and the soft roses on this one.

There was a wedding dress on the floor for show, and we thought the lace was exquisite.

We saw the dance floor area.....so fun!

As we were leaving, we walked out to the garden area again and some of the trees had white balls dangling from them.  It must look nice all lit up at night.

I think these are Camellia buds?

It was really a beautiful venue, and Jess got ideas for photographers and DJ's and table settings.  I'm glad we took a day trip there to see what it was all about.

Jess will be dreaming
of her special day.

2016

Do you have any New Year's goals?

I don't like to use the word, "resolutions".

I feel like this word can be cliché and sounds a bit intimidating and demanding.

We all have goals though, and what better time to make a plan for achieving them than in the start of a new year?? ;-)

Here are some of mine:

1) Simplify my weekends and my life by spending more time in town. (Don't get me wrong...I love to travel, but I've been on the road so much in the last year!)

2) Continue to work on me and Nel's Traveling Teddy project, and submit to more children's literary agents. (See our previous post for more information.)

3) Last, but certainly not least, walk down the aisle and marry the love of my life!

4) Oh...and I mustn't forget...work on looking amazing in my wedding dress. ;-)

What do you have planned for the new year?

Dolly Told Fran

Ruby told Virginia

Virginia told Missy

Missy told Gwen

Gwen told Dolly

Dolly told Fran

Fran told Sally,
And it got straight
back to Paige.

Paige was very sad,
especially because
what was said
wasn't even true. :(

Gossip.....
it's an ugly thing.
And it can hurt
many people.
(The names are just random ones I thought of).

Somewhere Far Away

I went out to a New Year's breakfast with my son.

(this is a picture of a breakfast we had for dinner one night).

We talked about many things - the family, traveling, and some of the places we'd love to visit someday.  He said, "New York," and I replied, "Yes, New York!"  I've always wanted to go on a girl's trip to New York with my daughters.  My son is very good with Geography, and when asking him where this or that place is, he tells me patiently but sometimes gets a little irritated because I don't know.  What can I say, it wasn't my favorite subject. : )  Speaking of traveling, here's a couple pictures of him that have always been special to me.  He was such a funny little boy.

Do you plan on doing
any traveling
this year?

Your Sacred Space

It is essential for me
to get back to
nature in the new year.

There was a frost on the
lawns in my neighborhood.
This is as close
to the snow as it gets
living here. ; )

The magpies have
unusually long tails.

The skies with their
grey clouds... but have been
so pretty lately.

I often see this white
horse while driving on the
country road close by.
How I wish I could ride him.

Listen to the trees
as they sway in the wind.
Their leaves are
telling secrets.  Their bark
sings songs of olden
days as it grows around the
trunks.  And their
roots give names to all things.
Their language has
been lost.
But not the gestures.

Not sure what bird makes
its nest here.

Got a close up of this
fellow, as he
passed right by me.

Your sacred space is
where you can find yourself
again and again.

That would be nature, for me.
