Mama Says...

Went to lunch with my
sister and brothers.
Remember when I told you
that my sister finds
the perfect gift for someone?
Here's a few things she gave me
(belated birthday gifts).

kitchen dish towel

She found this cook book,
and someone wrote something in it.
I love old books
because they have been
shared, held, read, and enjoyed
by many.
It tells me that the book
has a history.  : )

This tea cup with the word
'Opa
was meant for me.

My brother gave me a box of
assorted chocolates,
which we all shared.

The restaurant that we went to
serves duck fries.
Sounds peculiar, right?
They are cooked in duck oil,
and they are delicious.
We shared a plate of those too.

I love going out to lunch
with my sister and brothers now and then.
It's nice to catch up on
each other's lives, and we share
each other's struggles, disappointments,
happiness, and most of all,
family stories.

That towel is fabulous. Just fabulous.

And I've seen that Rockwell painting in person. It was one of my favorites -- part of a two-part piece. The top showed the family going on the outing, the bottom, coming home. He nailed it!

Isn't it nice to extend birthday celebrations with family? What thoughtful gifts from your's. The tea towel is perfect for you as is the cookbook and cup. The Norman Rockwell painting is perfect. It really reminds me of times past. His work is so Americana! Enjoy those See's candies, my friend. ♥

Sheri, I think that painting is so funny. Look at the grandma sitting so straight and quiet while the kids are hanging out the windows....that is exactly why seat belts were invented. LOL. But I still see dogs hanging out. Oh what nice gifts from your siblings. I love that you shared the chocolates. I like little added things to books too. Blessings to you, xoxo, love, Susie

You are so lucky to have siblings. I always wanted brothers or sisters, but that never happened. Sounds like you all had a terrific time and the duck fries look so good. I love french fries.

Looks like you received some wonderful gifts.

Have a wonderful week.

Wonderful gifts! And what a blessing to share it with the ones you love. Love the story that an old book can tell...not only the print but the journey the book has made...Where has it been? Who has owned it? And best of all where is it going?

Oh Sheri those are great gifts. I love getting chocolates! I have two brothers and two great sis in laws and we get together off and on all yr round. I love it too. By the way, thanks to you posting about writing in your journal had me thinking that I needed to give that a try again. My mom has been sharing bits and pieces of her growing up and the family. I try to remember all that and I am NO good at that so I have decided that writing it down in a journal is the best way for me to keep up with what she has shared with me. Thank you for planting that thought in my head.
