Family Time

We have many family birthdays
the month of July,
and this last weekend we
celebrated my son's and my son-in-law's.
We went out for coffee
on Saturday,
and we all met for lunch on Sunday
at a nice Mexican restaurant.
Later, me and Jess did some shopping.
Jess saw this decorative box
and wanted it for the baby.
I bought it for her -
she can put hair clips and bows in it.

Jess' mother-in-law is really an
artsy and crafty person.

She sews, makes canned goods,

and she gave me 2 jars of homemade jam,
blueberry and plum.
I bought some sourdough bread
to go with it.
There's nothing like it.

The carrot cake she made
was amazing.
She used to be a professional baker
and made wedding cakes,
so her desserts are always so moist
and delicious.
She puts real carrots in her carrot cake.

The girls brought this home
from their trip.
They thought it was "so me."
It is a music box playing the tune
Beauty and the Beast.

It was such a fun weekend.
Spending time with my family
is my favorite thing to do.

Sheri, I love that you had a wonderful fun filled weekend with your family. What a beautiful hair-do. I think when people give gifts of food, it is very special....making it and giving is even more so. Yes, that rose is for a beauty. :) I think of you when I see roses. Blessings to you, you know you are going to love being a grandmother. xoxo, Susie

You were making memories to treasure...such a sweet box for your daughter. Homemade jams and jellies are just simply the best! (July is a month full of dates for us, too...Lorelei's mom and dad celebrate their anniversary, her dad's birthday is this month, my other daughter's birthday is this month, and Roger and I were married this month.

Dear Sheri, the box for the baby is so perfect - after all having a baby is the best adventure you will ever have! Yes the red rose music box is perfect for you too, with the sweet Beauty and the Beast tune. A lovely gift. Isn't home made jam the best thing? Mouth watering thinking of your jams and sour dough, which we love here too.

Time with family is a blessing. The 24th was my youngest daughters birthday, we are taking her to lunch today. I love sour dough bread but can't eat it now since I am on a diet.

Wonderful that you enjoyed that time together with family, Rose. The homemade jams bring back fond memories for me of Grandmother's blackberry jam and pear preserves!

Isn't it just so lovely when our married children's extended family become our family as well. I know just how you feel about all of this. We have several meaningful and warm connections with our children's in-laws and have spent many, many Holidays with them too!
I just know you must be getting some butterflies over the thoughts of being a Grandmother!
Happy Birthday to your son, sweet Sheri!
Love,
jemma
