Oh, September

September is a time when I think about home, family, pumpkin treats, and the changing colors of nature.  I tend to think of my mom, who always did her best to get her five kids ready for the new school year.  She cooked a lot, but didn't bake much, and I think that's why I enjoy all those pumpkin desserts so much.  I saw a family of geese when visiting my parents at the cemetery, and one of the geese was limping, as if she injured her leg.  At the park, I noticed something beneath the tree, and after taking a closer look, I was surprised to see a painted rock with a face.   The pomegranates are growing at the Rose Garden, and I thought of Nel, as she has gotten a pomegranate in her stocking every year since she was a child.   I went to a quaint shop in my town and bought an ornament that has three little, but very special words on it.  I've been putting together some children's books to read to Francesca when she comes in.   She loves books now, but sometimes grabs at the pages, so I'll have to look around for the hard page ones haha.  Oh September, I delight in seeing your dancing leaves change color, to sip your hot drinks and eat your pumpkin treats, to savor each moment now, and reflect on the past when our own mothers made these Autumn days so comforting and gentle.

    Full of Autumn Colour.

Poor Goose, we see a Swan that has
    difficulty walking near our house,
it is always way behind the others
when it is walking on land.

The blueπŸ’™heart decoration is so pretty.

    Have a lovely week x

  8. Sheri, I love learning about your mother. This post about my favorite season is making me smile. The poor goose still looks strong and resilient. I hope the poor thing will make it okay. You have such a lovely place to visit. The painted rock is so cute and brought a smile to me this evening. I'm sure Francesca would enjoy some cloth or hard page books. I really like seeing the pomegranate photo--I think they are the most interesting of fruits. How neat that Nel gets one at Christmas. There must be a story behind that! Enjoy this lovely season of Autumn, my friend. ♥

  10. Beautiful post, Sheri. I love September. You have some amazing pictures here. I really love that rock- how funny is that.

I so remember those "baby grab the page" reading bouts. Soon she will be helping you turn the pages so you can get on with the story. It happens before you know it.

I hope you have a fantastic week. Love to you----xo Diana

  14. Hello dearest Sheri! This is such a cozy time of year....it rained heavily last night and just the sound of the rain evokes such a nesting instinct, a happiness that only those you love and with whom you live can bring on during these times. Like always, your photos tell a story, and yes, all of our stories matter!

  16. Oh, poor goose! That tugs at your heart, doesn't it? And certainly the thought of reading to your granddaughter does too. I always think of what wonderful experiences are ahead in books for small children. Your part of the country is beautiful at this in-between time of the season, Sheri. Fall also takes me back in memory to my precious mother. She was a nester too.

I'm enjoying our 3rd cloudy drizzly day here,

  20. I enjoyed reading about your touching and loving September memories.
I loved your pics too especially that bird on a wire
with that gorgeous cloud as backdrop.
September is very dear to me
as it is my mother's birth month,
in fact it was her birthday yesterday
and we still do celebrate it in our own
little way even if she's not with us anymore.

Thanks for sharing this lovely post.

  29. Oh My God, all pictures you have shared have their own beauty. Each pic is telling its own story. September was not very good here in India, we faced a lot of dark and gloomy days and heavy rains but still, I can't ignore its beauty. You have captured some fabulous picture from that month. Great post.
Hey, I have tried to fix my comment problem. You can comment on my post now.

    Have a happy Monday.
