Cherries Please

It's starting to get warm here now, and it definitely feels like summer, although there is still a coolness in the mornings, and that's when I usually get all my errands done.  Cherries are expensive at the stores right now, so I don't get them as often as I'd like.  But I picked up a big bag at the grocery store last week, just because they say "summer" to me.πŸ’

Here is my calendar page for July.  It's such a cheerful page for one of the hottest months of summer.

Nel was devastated last week, when her beloved cat, Luca, died.  It saddened us all, and her family has been grieving and missing their lively and sweet companion.

I hope this is a better week for her, as it is her birthday week.  My Nel turns 44.  She loves Papyrus cards, so I found this pretty one for her.  Even the Papyrus envelopes are unusually wonderful.

These three birds were huddled together on my yard.  Not quite sure what bird it is, some kind of woodpecker?

I went to a craft fair in my town over the weekend.  There was a lot of cute handmade items there, but I have to really love something to bring it home these days, and I didn't see anything that I had to have.  Although I didn't buy anything, it was nice talking with the women at the booths.  This one lady makes crocheted dolls, and creates little characters out of sea shells.  Some of them she has had since the 1940's.

You know how we get the wildfires during the summer months in California.  Well, there was a small fire this last weekend in my town, close to the grocery store in the woods, but it was put out quickly, thank God, and I'm hoping no more ferocious wildfires come about this summer.😱

I bought a new door mat.  There's just no place like home.

Have you ever tried the Mexican pastries?  Oh, I love them.  Sometimes I go to the restaurant just to pick up a few.  You have to go early in the mornings on the weekend, cause they are all sold out during the week.

A mama built her nest under the eaves of my house, and her baby birds hatched, as I can hear them LOUDLY every morning.🐣

Do you know that me and Nel are only 21 years apart?  I was a mere 20 years old when I was pregnant with her.  I had that girl Baptized at two weeks old.  44 years later.....happy birthday, my love. πŸŽ‚πŸπŸŒΊπŸ«πŸŽ‚

Happy Monday Sheri! There is so much beauty your posts! I love that Mikey Mat! You and Nel are similar to me and my mom on terms of age. My mom had me a 20.

The photo of you and Nel is so beautiful. It radiates so much warmth and love.

I'm sure I'd enjoy those Mexican pastries too. They sound appealing.

I wish you a wonderful new week.

Dear Sheri, your photos are absolutely gorgeous. It is so difficult πŸ˜ͺ to lose a cat 🐈 or any pet. I have had cats most of my 68 years and I can relate to the pain 😒
I ❤️ love cherries πŸ’ and also purchased some last week. They are delicious and nutritious. The photo of you and Nel is so beautiful. I was born two months before my mother's 41st birthday. She had already lost 5 children, 4 miscarriage cases and a son at 7 months, so I am an only child.

I like those Papyrus cards too. They’re not just a card, they’re art! My mom was 19 when she had me. I was an old lady by my mom’s standards at 23 when I had Michael. My middle son will be 45 this November. I still see a little boy under his beard. I enjoy the Mexican pastries and cookies too.

Your birds are Flickers. The only ground eating woodpeckers. They poke holes in the dirt looking for ants and such. You chose a beautiful card! and your calendar page; I adore it!! A gnome and mushroom garden!!! I plan on making a tiny indoor one. So sorry about the kitty. We lost our Simba a little over a year ago.

Hello Sheri. Your blog is always such a lovely, cozy one to visit! I always enjoy reading here. I love cherries! They say summer to me. I've added them to my grocery list for later this week. I'm so sorry to hear about Nell's cat. I'll be praying for comfort and peace for her and her family. Happy Birthday to Nell! I hope she enjoys her special day. My mom was 21 when I was born. She turned 22 the following month, so about the same age difference as you and Nell. That's a delicious-looking pastry you have there. Our AC hasn't been working very well, and it's 95 degrees out today, but I'm craving some homemade brownies! Maybe I'll make a batch if it cools off later this evening. Have a wonderful week!

Happy birthday Nel!
Those cherries looked so good - I love Bing cherries.
Your Enchantment Calendar.
I am so sorry that Luca died. That has to be hard.
I don't know what a papyrus card is. It is pretty though.
Are those mourning doves?
Love your door mat with Mickey Mouse.
No fires this year, I hope.
I don't think I've have had those cookies. They look good.
My mom had me at 33!

Hey there Sheri... Makes me sad for Nel that her cat died. It is difficult to lose a pet you have loved. Sending happy Birthday Wishes to Nel...My oldest daughter's Birthday is Wednesday...Seems like we've been celebrating since last Friday...We had a cake for her on the fourth...Our great grandsons Birthday is on Wednesday as well.. Lots of special days to celebrate. Your cherries look amazing. I love these things, but you are so right..they are expensive. I have been fortunate enough to taste some of the Mexican sweets. They are so good and I really feel that they are not as sweet as the ones we have here. Still, very good. Your Calendar is such a sweet picture...those big red and white mushrooms are adorable. Hoping and praying that all of the California fires are extinguished and that this season there will be NO fires. Have a super good week and thanks for sharing the photos...

I love your cheerful mug. Those birds are interesting all being on the ground. We love cherries too but don't buy them very often because of the price. They are good though!

I'm sorry they lost their pet. That blows. Been there for sure.

As for cherries. Aldi has them for a little over two bucks a pound. 2.29, which isn't as good as their cranberries at 99p however, if you have an Aldi, you might find good cherries. Ours are soooo good.

Cherries are truly one of nature’s sweetest gifts — not just delicious but packed with health benefits too. Whether it’s fresh cherries in a summer salad, baked into a pie, or even enjoyed as a simple snack, they never fail to bring joy. Thank you for sharing your love for cherries in such a fun and engaging way. Now I’m seriously craving some! πŸ’

Sheri - the last photo is so wonderful. I am sure it is hard to think that your little girl is all grown with children of her own. Sheri your birds look like flickers ( and they are a type of woodpecker). Could not see but they generally have a red place on the front of their neck. Thanks too for your prayers for those in Texas. I cannot imagine the sorrow of all those who have lost loved ones.
Those Mexican pastries look delicious. We too are seeing bing cherries here...they are such a great snack. Well take care dear one and have a good week. Hugs!

Hi Sheri, Happy Birthday Nel! Did you go to see the fireworks? I didn't get to go. We were at the hospital that day for hydration and by the time we got home I was not going back out. I have had those Mexican patties before. They are good. Not too sweet. Big fire east of us. I hope they get it out soon. Nothing worse then big fire and the heat of summer. Have a nice week! Cindee

I'm sorry about Nel's cat -- that has to be hard for the whole family -- many years of love and possibly the first big loss for the girls. Do you have a go-bag ready, just in case of fires? I'm like you on a craft fair or show these days. About the only thing I buy is something like a card that I can send away! I have too much. Excited about your birthday next week. I hope it's lovely!

I'm catching up with you today. Somehow my feed on my sidebar is not updating to tell me when you have a new post. I may have to take it out and add it again to see if it works. Love your cup and door mat! And I love cherries too! Hugs!

Awww, happy birthday Nel, that’s the sweetest photo! So sad she lost her kitty. Heartbreaking for everyone! I think your bird may be a northern flicker and belongs to the woodpecker family. Does it have a black half moon shape across its chest? I am not sure if there is a difference between the CA one to those we see in VA. Those cherries look luscious! I put some on our next shopping list. I always enjoy looking through all your posts. Always cheery! Thank you and have a wonderful weekend :)

That was a lovely post, Sheri. Happy (late) birthday to Nel. She looks MUCH YOUNGER than 44. I love Papyrus cards, too. They are very pricey though but for a special person, worth it! Right? Loved the photo of you holding her as a baby. So precious. Love your blog, dear Sheri. Susan

Our morning are cool too but not and the birds are busy.
I think those birds if they have red on them are northern flickers.
Happy birthday to your daughter.
I have never had Mexican pastries but they sure look good.

We have those Mexican cookies everywhere in Texas. I could make myself sick! lolol
Happy week!

Sweetest photo ever! My daughter is going to be 48 this year. I can't hardly believe it, but I was a young mom too. Nowadays women are having their children later and later, but I am glad I didn't wait. Those grandbabies can wear a girl out! :)
