All Aboard!

Chugga Chugga...
Chugga Chugga...
Choo! Chooo!
This holiday project is brought to you by Jess' boyfriend, Brian.

He began construction in November, just as the crisp winter weather began to set in.
The train was built using an N scale train and model.
The mountains were created using newspaper balls, plaster cloth, and foam core all covered in a layer of white paint and faux snow.
The trees were rolled in water and glue, and also sprinkled with faux snow.

And the pond was cut out and painted blue on the bottom, and then filled with a liquid that dries clear and looks like ice. The ice skaters will be arriving soon!
Any winter wonderland needs a few woodland creatures to play in the snow.
Though there are still a few finishing touches Brian would like to add, we thought it would be fun to share with you all the work he's done so far.
Next year's plans include a light-up Christmas tree, a few more skiers, sledders, and forest critters, and a couple of log cabins to warm up in after a day of merry-making in the snow.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have a train to catch! ( ;

  17. LOVE it. I can just see the conductor collecting the tickets. Trains rounding the track, going through snow covered mountains are part of Christmas tradition. Brian did a great job putting it all together. It looks marvelous.

  25. This is absolutely wonderful. My dad always displayed his train set under the tree, and up until my teens, I would still lay under the tree to arrange, rearrange and play with the set!!!!!!!!!! BEAUTIFUL JOB!!!!

    Sheri dearest, YOUR COMMENTS are so kind and mean so much to me......after yesterday's little fiasco where no one could get into my blog due to a gadget with a virus, I felt so cut off...but it is resolved now, and to see such kind words flood in is my Christmas gift. To just share with you all what is in my heart. Blessings to you always my dear, and thank you for such a lovely year of CREATIVITY!!! Anita

  26. Nel, this is so beautiful. The closer pictures make it so realistic. I wouldn't take a single full shot...ruins the fantasy. ;) But, then again, I'd be happy to show off such work too. I especially like the scene with the deer. One of these days I am going to FINALLY purchase a train set for Christmas...no, not for the kids (mine are 22 and 18), for this kid who has always dreamed of one.
    Loved this. Brian did good!!
