Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country (from the United States Department of Labor website).

ReplyDeleteYep that's me behind the cash tonight from 3pm till 11:15pm spending my labour day at a union grocery store lol ! I still haven't figured out why the union is good for us...standing in one spot for so long is not easy!

This is a great post to honor all who work hard evey day...today we slept in...read the paper front to end...drank the WHOLE pot of coffee and said today is a do nothing day..and we didnt do a thing!

ReplyDeleteThis is really timely for California as you probably know our grocery workers may be going on strike. I wish I could go on strike. We all need a decent wage and decent health coverage. This labor day will be spent at home but I wish I were at the beach like your last photograph!
