It's A Place

I have a secret special place I go to.  A place where hummingbirds, woodpeckers, geese, and doves live.  Once in awhile you'll see the ears of a rabbit scarily passing through.  It is a place where the blue jay takes the bits of bread I throw him and carries it on to his hungry ones.  They're very aggressive, and seem to have a "first come, first serve" way of thinking.  It is a place where you can hear the dove coo in the distance, a familiar voice that I've grown to love (oh, there's one now).  It is a place where I come to in all the seasons, and see the changes in the scenery.  It's almost summer, and the grass grows wild.  It's as tall as the people who take walks on a peaceful Sunday morning.  It's a place of wild purple flowers and trees with stretched-out limbs as if to say "good morning."  It is a place of peace, away from all the chaos, which exists only two minutes from there.   It's a place where I have my coffee and recollect all the blessings in my life.  It is my second home.

  2. It's fabulous, Sheri, and that bluebird -- whatever he is? That should be enlarged and framed. Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous!

The description reminds me of the song from Peter Pan, "Neverland."

Will reply to your email very soon. It touched my heart deeply.

  10. Thank you, Sheri, for sharing this beauty. We used to live in California, before we moved to Illinois. There is beauty everywhere, if you have a heart to look for it. And you do!

  19. The colorful birds are not part of my landscape where I live. So, I couldn't take my eyes off the bird pictures. You've done a good photographic job.

  20. I like how you write about nature, it's peaceful and fun at the same time. I also like taking photos outside as it always seems to give a nice backdrop for my outfit. But back to you, you are so good in writing poems, makes the reader to throw their imagination into the setting of your story.
