August Art

Welcome to my new favorite museum, the Getty Villa.

Located in beautiful Malibu California, the Getty Villa offers stunning views...

"Summer is a great time to visit art museums, which offer the refreshing rinse of swimming pools--only instead of cool water, you immerse yourself in art."
~ Jerry Saltz ~

lush gardens...

and classical Greco-Roman art.

I visited the Getty Villa for the first time with my students this past week, and quickly fell in love.

Maybe it was the olive trees, which reminded me of a beautiful home my parents used to live in...

or the unique touch of elegance around every corner...

"In character, in manner, in style, in all things,
the supreme elegance is simplicity."
~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow ~

whatever the source of the magic, the Getty Villa took my love of art to new heights.

  15. Hello sweet friend! Ahhhh...I am home. My feet are killing me, but I love my job. The kids are great, the weather is fabulous right now, and I am thrilled to hear about your daughter getting a teaching gig. I pray she will embrace all those unforgettable moments of teaching AND learning. It's a life-long career.

YES! We would go to the Getty Museum and what a place. California surely has iconic points of interest that are breathtaking!

Well my friend, I so hope one day we can meet. There is nothing like finally seeing the beautiful face with whom you converse, and there is so much to share. Sending you my fondest regards, Anita

  19. Dear friend! It is still very early in the morning yet I need to leave for work, but I see that you came to my new blog post. Oh Sheri, photography and poetry are SO similar to me, because both can be a frustrating process. My photography has always been unpleasant to me, and writing a poem takes courage because sometimes, the poem can sound corny, overly sentimental and just ridiculous!!!!!! But a lot of practice and thought and placement of words and objects in the case of photography makes all the difference. But we have to always practice....

Thank you dear, dear friend for coming by. Gotta run...Anita
