In The Green

Last weekend, we took a drive to Foresthill.  It's such a peaceful place, and we had a picnic lunch overlooking the view of the Sierra Nevada mountains.

The tall cedar trees smell so good.

Do you know what this is?  I thought it was so pretty, and it looks like some kind of wheat?

The dandelions and butterflies graced the forest.

This sign caught my eye.

Leaving Foresthill, we crossed the Auburn-Foresthill Bridge, and it is the highest bridge in California, and the fourth highest in the United States.

I always love my visits here.

  6. I love picnics and there are some terrific places not far from our home and close to the beach, but still country like, but last year my kids social life turned them into Kardashians ahahahah.

We have that wheat like grass by the road here too. I find this signs so amazing. Imagine the little seeds traveling all the way above the Ocean until reaching your neck of the woods - the other day Washington Post had a graphic that showed that when I'm by the beach, if I swam in a line across the Ocean I'd cross North or South Carolina (depending where I'd stand) and then into Japan. Fascinating isn't it? I think so. Small World if you connect the dots.

But I digress... love your pictures Sheri. They show the serenity and whimsy with which you made the trip. And the smile.

    You're an inspiration!

  8. What a gorgeous place! And the plant looks like some sort of oats to me, but I don't know. Pretty, whatever it is. I'm not too fond of bridges either, but they do come in handy. :-)

  31. Sheri,
I grew up in Idaho and family picnics were basically a tradition in our sweet little family. We would always load up in the pickup and head to the mountains. These lovely photos brought back precious memories and truly I can smell the pines!
    Love
