Good 'Ole Days

Me and my husband stopped at this candy shop on one of our drives, and they had penny candy in some of their bins.  I remember going down to the local store when I was a little girl and looking at all the penny candy every time I visited.  Let's see if you remember some of these goodies.
Who didn't love the moon pies?


All the girls wanted the candy necklaces.


Remember the candy cigarettes?


Loved the red hot cinnamon suckers.


I still like the chocolate sixlets to this day.


And let's not forget the red wax lips, how fun were these?


Speaking of  the good ole' days....


Aaahhh, childhood memories;
We all have them.
Mine were sweet.
I hope yours were too.

    Such a fun stroll down Memory Lane.

    It evoked another memory. Every Saturday my parents would drop my sister and me at the movies with $.50 each. We could go to the movie and buy a Charms sucker. If we pooled our money we could buy a tube of Flicks.

    I loved those- I never saw the red hot suckers though! We used to get something called a SkyBar, too, and that was very good- although more than a penny! And 5th Avenue- remember those? I wonder if they even make those anymore-I'll have to check. Hope you have a great weekend- xo Diana

    Oh the memories that come back. Candy at the movies on Saturday. Riding my bike to the color drug store and buying penny candy. Loved those lips.

    I love this post...lOL. We had a place around the corner called the Sugar Shack. This is in New Orleans.
    It sold all the candy above and more of course. It also sold paper dolls. and little airplanes, tops jacks. It was wonderful. My fav were the wax lips and the Little Miss Sunbeam paper dolls.

    None of those were familiar albeit the candy shoppe near our home had many jars displayed with sweets I could not resist (at least when it was chocolate!).
    The Moon Pie however reminds me of something my boss once brought to work for me. Packaged differently perhaps?
    Those were good Ol' days I agree!

    Awe, thank you for the memories. I remember all of them. It's so hard to find them anymore. I remember saving my pennies and going to the neighborhood store. I thought I was something. Can't buy anything for a penny anymore. I always loved those moon pies too. We used to buy cola in a glass bottle and you could save the bottles and carry them back to the store and they'd pay a penny a piece for them. You talk about saving bottles we did..     We had those necklaces here in the UK too and I remember going to the sweet shop with my pocket money and choosing fron the penny tray. One of these traditional shops has opened in a nearby town and it's so popular with all the sweets in tall jars.

    My daughter was over recently and we went down memory lane,taking it in turns to name something we loved when we were young.She also brought lots of lights and decorations to make my bedroom a sight to be seen.It does make me smile when the lights go on befor I go to sleep.I did feel I had to explain to the nurses who come in every day but they all think it was such a fun idea
