I think this is the first year I haven't posted a back to school post complaining for our school kids here in TN who have to go back the first week in August instead of the date I think they should, the day after Labor Day.

I too wish that children will have great teachers like your daughters. I too carried my lunch in a brown bag with my name on the front. It was a simpler time and I went to a school just right up the street from my house too.
Can't believe how fast this summer has passed and many here are starting back to school the week before Labor Day. Growing up we always went to school after Labor Day.
Wishing your daughters a wonderful school year of teaching.
Have a great week and thank you for stopping by with birthday greetings for my son.
Blessings and joys, xoxoCelestina Mariehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10021633519525822335noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2044188580228571201.post-11560448733776157312017-08-14T07:49:31.634-07:002017-08-14T07:49:31.634-07:00I think all the students they teach will be happy ...I think all the students they teach will be happy to have such interesting and positive teachers! We used brown paper bags, too. God bless your daughters in their teaching positions. Hope you are doing well. I loved school and the newness of it all. I loved buying the Big Chief paper pads and new pencils. And we shopped at Penny's for our clothes too and ordered from Sears. All teachers and staff are determined to make this a great school year.
When I was a child, back in Germany I always walked to school. My mom would pack me some dark whole grain bread with cheese and some fruit for lunch. In the morning I usually had oatmeal. We never got new outfits when school started; we got new clothes when the current ones weren't good anymore after they had been mended many times. My mother did also sew a lot of my clothes or altering my sister's old clothes. We didn't have much money since my parents both were refugees and they saved their money for some wonderful family vacations. Sometimes I hated that nifty style, but now I am very grateful for these great life lessons.Carola Bartzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05536486322412234854noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2044188580228571201.post-71996845654174019652017-08-12T10:45:42.021-07:002017-08-12T10:45:42.021-07:00Oh, I loved hearing everyone's stories on thei...Oh, I loved hearing everyone's stories on their school days. Back in the early 60s, my mother would always sew me a few new outfits, and her favorite (and mine), was plaid. She'd make me a plaid jumper and skirt, I too would get new socks and shoes and a few new handmade skirts and dresses. OH THOSE DAYS ARE GONE!

I go back for meetings the week of August 28, and the air is always full of anxiety for both students and teachers, but I'm ready to tackle another year.

Thank you!Castles Crowns and Cottageshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01780241008313365707noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2044188580228571201.post-66140902431490631472017-08-12T03:46:09.811-07:002017-08-12T03:46:09.811-07:00Always good to remember.....happy weekend love Ria...Always good to remember.....happy weekend love Ria x ❤️It's mehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15647922092566478165noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2044188580228571201.post-4196127353684676402017-08-12T00:26:32.783-07:002017-08-12T00:26:32.783-07:00childhood memories are treasure that is priceless ...childhood memories are treasure that is priceless .

My school was also at walking distance but we had to walk on hills for 20 minutes and than came the road which lead to school in ten minutes .mother got along everday and even in recess she brought lunch for us so we can eat warm fresh food as we all family members were habitual for this .

returning to school was like celebration and meeting friends and teachers was fun beyond limit.

My kids are back to school since two weeks though it is too hot out there .They like to to have food from school canteen but i prefer to give them lunch along with apple which they eat hopefully .
my youngest one can not hide anything he tells all even he left a bite he will share .
i ask them about their day and this sharing has become a routine .

Best wishes for Nell and Jess as Teachers dear Sheri bailihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06498012175058870980noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2044188580228571201.post-15167013198799347712017-08-11T16:17:01.374-07:002017-08-11T16:17:01.374-07:00It is amazing that students are already starting t...It is amazing that students are already starting to school. We were not allowed to wear pants back then unless it was snow pants on snowy days--even then you wore a skirt over them. lol

Also we did not have a list of school supplies. The school supplied everything you needed and it was handed out the first day of school along with your assigned seat.

I had to ride the bus and it was a one hour ride through the mountains every day-each way. I was the first one on and the last one off....sigh....
