Just Because

I've had a bad cold and sore throat, and now it's an awful cough, so I've just been trying to get over that.  I took garlic tablets, and feeling better.  I'll leave you with a few pictures in this month of November, just because.

There is still lots of color
in nature around here.

It rained for a few days!

My son made Jambalaya
one night.
He likes to cook sometimes,
and wants to make it
for his sisters for Christmas.

I don't see much gold
in the trees this season,
so I love this one.

My neighbor's tree is
soooo pretty.

A big lavender bush at the
rose garden.

I found this mini tree at
Target for the baby's room.
(Jess will show you the nursery soon).

One of Nel's favorite
things to do is
chalkboard drawing.
I'd like to get a BIG
chalkboard for the holidays.
Any ideas where I can find one?

I love you,
well, you know that. ;)

Sheri, Loved the beautiful fall photos. That little tree, for the baby, is adorable. :) I like when men want to cook. Most will find a dish they can do well and it's their signature item. I like to tell my son in law , his is burnt hot dogs on the grill. LOL He makes me laugh. Hope you get well soon. Gargle with warm salt water, it will help. As for a nice chalkboard...get an ugly framed picture at the thrift store or goodwill and paint the picture with black chalkboard paint, maybe a couple layers or three. You can then paint the frame a pretty color you like. Or even make a chalkboard from an old cabinet door. Blessings, love you, xoxo, Susie

You did the right thing taking garlic supplement; it's Nature's antibiotics. Echinacea capsules help too. For a sore throat- squeeze some lemon in your throat and the soreness will disappear immediately.

Beautiful colors of tree leaves, lavender bush, rose petals!

Garlic! I take garlic when I feel a cold coming on. I cut up a clove and swallow it like a pill. It knocks it right out. I read it somewhere. I didn’t know it is available as tablets! So...what is it about garlic that knocks out a cold? I don’t even know.

Beautiful pictures! Well, except the last one. (He’s beautiful in his own way!)

The Jambalaya looks fabulous.

Autumn is still very nice in your area, Sheri! And there is still a lavender bush blooming?! Many years ago I was for a short visit in Orange county in January. The weather there felt more like April/May weather in Germany.
Hopefully your health improves soon

Oh that first photo of the church is stunning! We had very little color this fall and now most leaves are on the ground already. Why don't you just make a big chalkboard? Buy a large picture frame and make a board of plywood. I've done that and it works really well. I love that pink tree -- isn't Target just the best, most dangerous place???

Sheri I hope that you feel better soon my friend! That tree for the baby is adorable! I haven't been in target in long time! I need to go there soon! Have a wonderful week!

So sorry to read you have been sick. There are some good suggestions here from your blog friends. I love the tiny pink tree for the baby. Take care of yourself and enjoy those pretty roses and lavender blooms.

Sheri, I'm so sorry to hear you are ill. It's nice that your son is helping out with some delicious food. Your neighborhood is so pretty with the fall colors! We have a ton of leaves that need to be raked, but it's been too cold and windy to tackle this job. I love the dew on top of the lovely rose you photographed. And poor Tom Turkey is looking quite worried. Take care of yourself, dear one. ♥

You have more color left than we do! And it is so beautiful. We have some color...just getting thinned down.

Sheri, I am sorry you are not feeling up to par. I usually get that crap in the spring and in the fall....so far, so good on not having it this fall. Then again, since I stopped working I don't get the tummy virus' either. Hoping you feel better soon. What part of Calif. are you in...I did not think you guys had fall colors.

Nature just has this power to make everything so beautiful! And that's why I love nature. I wish we also experience autumn here because I would really love to witness and see the leaves of the trees changing their colors :) i think that would be amazing! Also, I think you can just DIY a chalkboard? You can buy a chalkboard paint. I think that would be more special :) Lastly, I hope you'll feel better, Sheri! I'll pray for your health. Get well!

Sweet friend, get a lot of rest! Those coughs are tough to beat. The colors are gorgeous! Do you have a Hobby Lobby near you? They'd have a chalkboard!

I really enjoyed your nature photos today! Sure hope you feel better fast. I've never had jambalaya. Have you tasted of Brunswick Stew on your trips to Georgia? That is one of my favorites. Looking forward to more pics of the nursery and your granddaughter Francesa!

Hello Sheri, your first photo is gorgeous. I love the pretty colored leaves and trees and the church. It is nice your son is cooking, the Jambalaya looks yummy. I love the scent of lavender, I should plant some next spring. Beautiful roses. I remember when I was young and we had a train garden with those same Christmas trees. The last shot is cute, I hope the turkey is safe. I am sorry you are not feeling well. I hope your feel better soon. BTW, thanks also for your visit and comment on my blog. Happy Monday enjoy your day and new week!

Sorry to hear you are not feeling well, Sheri. Your autumn photos are so beautiful. It's so nice to see the roses still blooming, too. Jambalaya sounds delicious and it's extra special to have it cooked for you by your son. The little tree is so pretty and perfect for the baby's nursery. Isn't it wonderful to be a Grandmother?! Hope you are feeling better soon. Hugs xo Karen

Such lovely autumn photos, glimpses.
I am sorry you were sick, maybe you are over it and can enjoy the holidays with out getting sick now.
That is a lovely little tree, such pretty colors.
When i was little my mom painted the wall in our room with chalkboard black paint. Maybe you can make one? We loved having an entire wall to draw on and then erase.

Sweet little tree for the baby. Your Autumn is beautiful. I think we have almost passed the beautiful part of Autumn now. How nice for your son to cook for you.

Dear Sheri,
I am so sorry you have had a bad cold.. I hope you will be on the road to recovery very soon. Your son must be a good cook! The food looks delicious.
I love the little tree for the baby's nursery. I am so happy for you. What fun you are going to have with this little wee one.
Your rose is lovely. I really miss my roses. This has been a very bad year for them. October has always been the most prolific month for blooms. Not so this year. With all 8 of my bushes I only have two blooms today. Maybe soon.
Take care, dear friend.
blessings,
Penny

Beautiful colors on those trees. Autumn's passing by much too fast for me. Love the little pink tree for the baby.
Feel better, Huckleberry friend.

PS Chalkboard paint (Lowe's or HD) on an old frame/canvas from a yard sale or one you don't like works great. I made one a while back for our foyer. Show us if you make one.

And save me some of that Jambalaya, please. :) If your son makes it for his sisters for Christmas ask them to share a pic.

These photos are so beautiful!

If you can't find the chalkboard you like, try something like one of those back-of-the-door mirrors or a panel you can frame and use chalkboard paint. I just got back from Southern Exposure and they used this technique several times with different structures. (The cutest idea was small dollar store faux silver trays painted in the center that could be used as small signage.)

Colds can be tough to beat, and it seems the older we get the tougher THEY get! Hummmph!

I use to get a catalog from a company that had beautiful and huge chalkboards and for the life of me I can’t remember their name. Ugh. They have furniture too so if it comes to me I’ll let you know. I would try Etsy and Ebay, or homegoods and hobby lobby if you have them near you.
