The Tree Has Eyes

It's mid summer here and very hot, but the last few days have been cooler with a breeze in the mornings.  I like to do my grocery shopping and errands early so I can escape the heat.  The mama blue jay is a protective bird, always finding bits of food for her young ones.  Her call is so loud that it hurts my ears sometimes.  But she's thankful, I'm sure, for the morsels of loaf I give her and screeches for more.   There are still a few crepe myrtles left that are so pretty, one in particular that I pass by daily.  The tree branches cover the tiny white church, and this is where many couples get married in my town.  Have you ever seen a turkey scratching itself, it's amusing to watch?  And the tree at the trail is like one from Alice in Wonderland  with eyes on its trunk as if it's watching you.  I'm enjoying these last days of summer, but looking forward to Autumn's arrival, as the heat is getting to be fierce.

Hot everywhere. In my neck of the woods , only in mid-October it will be cooler.
Very good captures of the blue jay bird , the tree's eyes, and the flowers!

Hello my friend. You have a much better close up lens than I do; your bird shots are amazing and I wish I could get that close! Very inspiring today my friend. I don't have a car today so I need to find beauty maybe in my own backyard.

I am with you on this heat business. I am so tired of HOT HOT HOT weather. It's not so bad when it cools off at night so you can sleep. I hate sleeping with the A/C on.

You take such beautiful pictures Sheri. The church is so pretty and quaint. It would make a terrific place to be married in.

I understand more HOT weather is coming this weekend so enjoy the few days that we have where it's a little cooler.

Have a terrific week.

Hugs,
Mary

Sheri! These are some great photos...I have never seen a turkey scratch itself....but I have watched other birds preen and it is fun to watch. I love that rose shot. And that is beautiful church spire.

So enjoyable Sheri. The blue jay fascinates me, such a gorgeous colour. I'd love to pick up a blue feather one day. Also the crepe myrtles are the prettiest tree. We have them here but they don't grow so well. Enjoy the Summer, and soon the Autumn will come.

Hi Dear Sheri,
Your photos are incredible my friend. You truly are so talented with your camera. To capture a turkey scratching is amazing!!
Wishing you a wonderful month of August. How fast the summer is flying by. I don't want to rush it, but I am looking forward to fall and some cooler temps. We are having rain which is rare for us in August but so happy and the gardens love it.
Have a beautiful week. Love always xo

The photos are amazing, Sheri! What kind of camera do you use? I am going on a big trip and am starting to wonder if I should invest in a nice camera.

Beautiful pictures. Love birds and feeding birds, but the managers of the park informed us, that feeding birds bring unwanted critters. so I am trying to figure out plants that attract birds, plus my bird bath. Any ideas on what to plant?

Wonderful photos today, Sheri! Blue Jays do have such loud calls and they all look a little bit different in each area of the country. One of my earliest memories is hearing the calls of the Jays and the scent of the pines where I grew up in New England. Crepe Myrtles are such beautiful trees - the flowers are such amazing colors. Love the dragon fly and the turkeys with their strange square-tipped feathers. I will be happy when the temps are cooler - I am so over this hot and dry summer. Sending hugs xo Karen

Beautiful photos, Sheri! Here in Montreal it has been pretty hot and humid over the last few days but thankfully up until now we have had comfortable temperatures.
