Purple Flowers And The Bee

A little of this and that
on these last days
of July.

When I was in grade school, I got stung by a bee.  I was sitting on a bench with my leg dangling under a bush, and it got me.   The area around it started to swell, and my mom packed mud on it, and the swelling eventually started to lessen.  I think I had an allergic reaction to the bee, but my mom always knew what to do when trouble surfaced.  Ever since then, I will look and appreciate  the bee  from a distance, but I won't hover or get too close, as I don't want this flying critter to ever use his stinger on me again.  ; )

Oh Sheri, those are stunning photos. You should do a book of your gorgeous photography. I know what you mean about bees. I keep my distance, too. But how did you ever get such fabulous close-up shots? Great job. Susan

Beautiful photos as always Sheri! I really love you capture the beauty of nature! I'm terrified of bees! I don't like to be anywhere near them lol!

I love the crepe myrtles this time of year! I always enjoy your nature photos. I have a healthy respect for wasps! Disturbed a nest of them while playing hide and seek. :(

These take my breath away, Sheri. Gorgeous images -- fabulous birds and wonderful detail in so many. Love the cookie shots -- wish I had one right now!

Sheri, your photos are always exquisite! The crepe myrtles are just stunning! And the hummingbird photo is amazing! We've had one hovering around our patio but he always scoots on when I get the camera out! Be careful of the bees, my friend. ♥

Great photos Sheri. I am all about purple flowers...I think that is pretty much what my garden consist of. It's a girl? Your daughter?

I am in love with all shades of purple flowers and shrubs this year and loved seeing these. I'm suddenly really appreciating crape myrtles now too, have 2 outside my bathroom window to enjoy and the morning sun shining on them is pure joy.

One of my son's is deathly allergic to bee stings and has to carry an epi pen at all times after nearly having breathing shut down at the ER. It amazes me to see people tending their bee hives without a safety suit on. But God help us if the bees all die someday, we need to do everything we can to help them thrive.

Never been stung by one, but I err always manage to keep a nice distance. Your photos tell a story, of long summer days, mother nature, and dreams. Very lovely of you to share, and warm greetings!

Crepe myrtles wouldn't do well here in the northeast, but I am hoping once we get to NC I can get one. They're so pretty, as are all your photos. But what else is new? ;).

Such gorgeous photos, dear Sheri!
I too enjoy this-and-that posts, and yours are extraordinary.
It was wonderful to see the crepe myrtles. We had them in Italy and seeing these is so nostalgic...
I hope bees will stay enough far from you. I have a similar relationship with wasps. :)
Have a great weekend! xx

Hi dear Sheri,
Aren't crepe myrtles fabulous! When we moved to our new spot we of course had to put in landscaping and we put in 4 lavender myrtles. Last year they did not bloom as they were settling in:) But this year they are putting on a pretty show! Beautiful pictures and the one of the bee is striking. But, yes you must stay away from them!
Happy Friday dear one!
Love
Jemma

Beautiful photos! I love the ones with the hummingbird :-) I'm not a bee fan as far as getting too close either because I'm allergic to them, but I do appreciate all the good they do! ;-) Have a wonderful weekend!

Blessings,
Jill

Hi Sheri,
I enjoy your photos.
I got stung by a Deer Fly the other day. My entire ankle swelled up. I had to rest with my ankle elevated on a pillow. I have never had that kind of reaction from a fly bite before.

Sunshine through branches is just "CAPTIVATING"!!!

you truly know how to captivate a moment dear Sheri!

I been stung by bee in childhood sometimes and how great that those days not only stings but even open wounds were packed by mud only and it worked ,never heard about germs development because of it ,as now days we keep ourself hygienic mostly .

In our area once a man was killed by the attack of bee flock years ago and it caused quite a fright around for months

Oh, I try to let bees have their space. Mud was always a good remedy, wasn't it! And our moms knew the best quick-fixes. Oh Sheri my friend, your summer musings are always enchanting. It's been SO FUN this last month, and I have one more month left.

I will be back in email later this evening. It's going to be a busy day!

Looks like you're making the most of summer, Sheri. I also like bees from afar, as I do most critters :-)
