Glass Flowers

The rain stopped for awhile and it was a sunny day, so me and my son took a drive to the country for lunch.  I try to encourage my kids often to leave the busyness of their own towns and take a drive to the countryside for a day.  We had pizza for lunch at one of my favorite places.  I love their red and white checkered floors, and on the shelf above were BIG cans of pizza sauce.  Then, we drove to the country and gazed at green meadows and lovely horses.  The red door picture is a charming little country store that I always stop at.  They have the cutest things there, and I find something every time.  On the way home, we stopped at the nursery.  I wanted to see all the new flowers that are coming in for spring.  The Ranunculus were beautiful.  I planted these in my garden once, but they never made it.  There was a ceramic pot of glass flowers that were stunning, and I wanted to get one, but didn't.  The royal blue flower really got to me though.  It was such a pleasant day with my son, and I loved talking with him while we drove on the country roads.

Can't believe it's almost March!

Good Morning, Sheri, Your visit and ride in the country with your son sounds very relaxing. The pizza restaurant is cute as can be. How nice to spend time in conversation while enjoying the pretty scenery, horses etc.
Those glass flowers are very colorful and gorgeous. I have a blog friend in MN who makes her own glass flowers. If you would like to take a look, here is the link: http://farsideoffifty.blogspot.com/search?q=glass+flowers
Wishing you a very nice Monday. xoxo Mildred

You know the bestest places, Sheri!

I think it's time I took some time away from settling in here and headed down a country road.

Time with our adult children is precious indeed Sheri. What a nice time with your son, sharing pizza. Those glass flowers are very stunning, but the natural flowers, even better. I have never succeeded with ranunculus either - they must be a bit tricky!

Ranunculus remind me of tissue paper flowers. We had some planted but hard water and heat ruined them. In fall I wanted to drive around and take barn photos but never got to it, but Spring barns may be just as enchanting with all the blooming going on.

There is nothing better than a good pizza! I enjoy a drive on a country road with no place in particular to be. :) I love ranunculus flowers! I find them as cut flowers once in a rare while at Trader Joe's, I wouldn't ever try to grow them, I don't think I could keep them alive...
Have a great day!

Days like this, spent with someone you love, are such a treasure. Love all the sights - such a cute cafe' and those tomato cans would make great planters! You can see I have gardening on my mind.....I have a couple of glass flowers that I received as gifts. Don't know where I put them, though. Lovely scenes of the countryside. Glad you got to spend this wonderful day together. Sending hugs xo Karen

Sounds like a wonderful day. I like the idea of taking a day out of town every so often. I should do that. Beautiful pictures. The horse has to be one of my favourites. The flowers are such pretty colours also. I cannot believe it is March either. I want time to slow down so I can enjoy it more. At least March is my birthday month.
