Polish Festival Day

I went to the Polish Festival today with my son.   Now, I think one of the main reasons he went with me is for the Polish sausages - they're so good.   I ran into a friend from school, Cindy, and we talked for a long time.   And I enjoyed listening to the music that they play each year.

We also had some Pierogi (Polish dumplings) with sour cream and onions on the side.  My mom used to make Pierogi for my dad, but she filled them with prunes.

Then, we went upstairs cause that's where the desserts are.  These lanterns were on the dance floor.  It was fun watching the Polish dancers.

I always stop for a peek at the gift shop.  Isn't this a cute greeting card?

Polish artwork.

The baked goodies are so yummy, and every year they have such talented bakers sharing their desserts.

When I saw this at the shop, I just had to get it.

What made the day more special is that it was my mom's birthday.  She was all about family, and having spent the day with my son, that was the best present I could give her.

Polish Festival, I will see you again next year.  : )

(for those that don't know, I'm part Polish on my father's side).

Sheri, I'm so glad your son shared this very special time with you. The baked goods are making my mouth water! The sweet little Polish doll you bought is so meaningful to you and your heritage, of course you had to bring it home. What a lovely day you have enjoyed. ♥

We have a small town here-Pulaski. Every year they have a Polish fest that goes all weekend..with polka bands in the street, etc. My DIL was born and raised there so it is a fun time for everyone. Her parents still live there and I think her Dad is involved in several aspects of it.

So glad you spent the day with your son. How wonderful is that!!!

Love that sweet little doll-Blessings- xo Diana

Good morning dearest Sheri!!!!!

I did not know you were part Polish! So then, your mother was Greek? What a beautiful heritage you have! In my neighborhood, there is a section that was once inhabited by a large Polish community. There are still many descendants from the original Polish community members that settle here many years ago AND who established a string of Polish businesses on the main street. We have one of the largest Polish delis in Minneapolis and it sure smells good in there!

I miss you. I hope that one day we can speak again. Hugs to you, Anita

Anita, I am part Polish and Greek on my father's side. :) I'd love to visit the Polish delis where you live. They make delicious foods, especially that polish sausage. :)

CZES'C' KOCHANIE....Hello sweetheart, at least that's what that is suppose to be in polish. Hi Sheri, . No I don't speak polish, I looked this up. I like that you enjoyed a day with your son and bought the doll thinking of your mother. How sweet of her to make special foods for your father. Hope you are enjoying these last days of summer. Eleven more days till it will officially be fall. Today here is so beautiful. Blessings, love you, xoxo, Susie

I like ethnic festivals ; one gets to learn and enjoy various traditions of food, costumes, dancing. These events also don't let one forget one's heritage. I'm sure your son will one day wish to visit Poland and Greece where his ancestors came from and built America.

Precious Sheri, HELLO! Oh do have fun on your trail and silent time! I LOVE doing that and this weekend I got up and it was still dark. I took my camera because the sun rises pretty quickly that I find myself chasing the sun! Oh the fun, however; to feel like a kid out on a treasure hunt. I hope you share more of your discoveries! HUGS!

My husband must be part polish and doesn't know it. He's a sausage monster :). I actually have a photo of him hugging a sausage tree in Hawaii lol.
