A Night Out In Hollywood

Nel went to a bridal shower and a Bachelorette party for her sister-in-law.  It was at a 1920's-style Hollywood speakeasy.  They were all dressed up and had a fun time.  The man with the top hat was their host for the evening.

To get into the club, they had to give a secret password.   Guess what the password was?......"moonlit."  Here's Nel and the bride to be.

This is the cake from the bridal shower.  Isn't it darling?  The cupcakes were red velvet with cream cheese frosting.

Nel said it was really cool,
and they all had a lot of fun.

Pet Peeves Of Blogging

Today, I want to talk about some of the "pet peeves"  that I have in blogging.  I really enjoy blogging, and I love my friends dearly, however, there are a few things that don't sit right with me, and I'll tell you what they are.   Now, please forgive me if you do some of these things, as our blogs are our own, and I respect everyone's individuality......these are just a few things that irritate me.

1.  Looooong posts.  We have so many posts that
we look at every day, and it just makes it hard
for me to read the posts that are sooooo long
     and detailed.

2.  Friends who don't bother to comment.  I think
part of blogging is communication, and we
love to read the comments that people give us,
so I think that if we want to receive comments,
we should give them as well.

3.  Answering someone's questions on your own
post.  What's that all about?  How many people
really ever go back to the friend's blog post to
see the answer of a question they asked?  When
someone asks me a question, I like to go
straight to their blog and deliver the answer,
or send them an e-mail.   I know people are
busy, but I feel it's a thoughtful thing to do.

4.  Toooo large of pictures.  I don't like to see
pictures that are SO BIG that we have to scroll
up and down and backwards and forwards to
view them (the ones that cover the whole
page).   I love photography, but when I can't
see the full picture right from the start, it's hard
     to appreciate it.

5.  Blog posts that freeze up on me.  There have
been a few blogs that I really liked but don't
visit any more because they freeze up on me
     every time I do.

6.  Watching everything we say to some sensitive
bloggers.  You mean a lot to me, and I have
become close to many of you, so I want you to
be able to talk to me and tell me your thoughts.
I like when you mention some of your
experiences, and I'm interested in your stories
too.   So, you don't have to watch everything
you say to this girl.  I appreciate your honesty,
      I really do.

Well, that's just a few of the "pet peeves" of blogging that I have.  Now it's your turn, please tell us some of the things that bother you in blogging, and maybe we can learn from each other.

Just Because

My roses are still blooming even in September.

Curious little fellow.

Do you know what kind of bird this is?  She looked so regal sitting on top of this tree when I saw her on the trail.

I went to an Egyptian Festival in my town, and it was so much fun.  I will definitely go again next year.  My mom would have loved it, as she was always drawn to the Egyptian culture.  The young man on the left is really Egyptian.

I tried this Egyptian dish at the festival, and it was delicious.  It tasted similar to the Greek lasagna that I've had over the years.

I visited our lake recently and saw this........
It was the lowest that I've ever seen it.  California needs water terribly, and I hope the rain showers us in abundance this winter.

It was funny to watch this woodpecker look at his reflection in the window.

It's that time again when Starbucks comes out with all their delicious Fall goodies.

Doesn't this tree look very mysterious?

I see many yellow beaked magpies around here.

Once in awhile,
you have to take a break
and visit yourself.

Polish Festival

I went to the Polish Festival last weekend with my brother.  I had a lot of fun, and it was nice to experience some of their traditions, as I am part Polish on my father's side.

We browsed through the booths, and then got in line to get a yummy Polish sausage.

After, we went upstairs for the desserts, and I bought some jelly-filled cookies, which were very good.  Later, we listened to the band that played an assortment of upbeat Polish songs.

They even sold sausages that you could take home and cook yourself.

It was a festive day, and I just might go again next year.

Autumn Is All Around My Home

Last year, I went with white pumpkins,

but this year I'm going with orange pumpkins all the way.  Come along, and see the Autumn décor inside my house.  Here's my orange velvet pumpkin I put out every year.  I love the softness of it.

My jeweled pumpkins.

This girl statue I use for every holiday, and put different goodies in it for each season.

The glass pumpkin that my sister-in-law gave me and my sister one year.

I just love my Autumn fairy.  She has a sweet smile, and it wouldn't be the same without seeing her every Autumn.

And lastly, my scented candle.  It sits in my kitchen, and fills the air with the smell of cinnamon.

Have you decorated
for Autumn yet?

Something to Celebrate

Every once in a while I feel it's a good idea to take something ordinary and make it something special...

...like a weekday night dinner! Tonight I'm going to light my favorite candle...

fill a vase full of pretty flowers...

and indulge in something I'd normally wait for the weekend to enjoy.

In my opinion, an average weekday night can surely be something to celebrate!

A Small Gift For Me

I went to the Christian store on this Sunday afternoon, and something caught my eye.  It was a picture of a white horse!  I loved the verse also, and really needed to hear it today.  Since I am a store member, it was also 25% off.  I just had to get it.

With some white roses from my garden.

Sometimes words of comfort
reveal themselves
when you need them the most.

Have a restful Sunday.

Hello September

I have always been fascinated
with Autumn.
It whispers to me like
no other season.

Does Autumn whisper
to you, too?
