I Made It!

I completed my first year of teaching!

I was hired as an elementary teacher the day before school started.

I accepted the job, packed up my life, and moved hours away from my beloved home (but the area is closer to family now).

Each day, I worked hard and gave my very best effort.

Each month, it became a little easier.

This school year has been a challenging one, but I have grown so much as a teacher and an individual.

One of the most important things I've learned is that I love my job!

I'm proud that I have successfully completed my first year of teaching, and grateful for the support I have received from family, colleagues, and friends.

I look forward to not only a summer of rest and rejuvenation,

but years to come of teaching and inspiring children to love learning.

~Jess

Congratulations Jess. You are one of many who will touch young lives. You are an important part. My daughter loves teaching and always welcomes the short summer break. You need it...you will be doing more than teaching school...you'll be teaching social skills also. I wish you the very best. Enjoy your break sweetheart, you earned it, I am sure. Hooray to you Jess! It takes a very special person to devote her life to working with children. I know each and every one of the students who come in and out of your classroom will be better for the experience of having you as their teacher. May this be the first year in a long and joyful career as an educator and changer of lives. So proud of you!

Love, Nelli

Oh Jess. How wonderful that you have completed your first year of teaching and still love it! Oh, what lucky children who come under your care. I wish, with all my heart, that you could be cloned and sent to schools all over the USA.

I think teaching is an incredibly admirable profession. All those lives you have before you can be inspired and uplifted or lost in the shuffle (if they are with a teacher who doesn't care about the job).

I also think it's a very difficult job, especially now with so many broken families, substance abuse, teen pregnancy and so forth.

Teachers should be at the TOP of the pay scale, since little children's lives are at stake. Unfortunately, they do not get paid nearly enough money.

So it is thoroughly commendable that there are teachers like you. May you have many, many more years ahead to touch the lives of little children and make a gargantuan difference in the world. Susan

Congratulations on a wonderful and successful first teaching year, Jess.
PS I have that exact same book, Frog and Toad, at my house - belonged to my children and now we read it to the grandchild!

First year is always difficult. In everything - in life, in love...

Yes, we look forward for it but we'll never be so out-of-depth as during that 1st year. The enthusiasm and the excitement bangs into the insecurities of embarking a completely-new- adventure.

Once we overcome the milestone it's just repeating it for the rest of your life but increasing the love and fulfillment and decreasing the anxiety and fear.

Go Jess. You're doing what you love and what you're truly good at. That should help through the tough times that will keep you challenged and focused.

Lucky midgets don't know but they're being encouraged and loved by an Angel ;)

All my Love and GO JESS!
Yours,
Teresa

Congrats Jess. I can see in your post a loving and caring person that will go the extra mile for children and they are so lucky to have you. We need more like you to give inspiration to our children.. I'm sure there's going to be plenty that will still put you at the top of their list after they're grown. Hugs, xo

Jess, I can relate.

When I first completed my initial studies and first licensure, I was immediately hired on the spot at a French immersion school; my licensure was for high school French, so I had to not only "pack up" and prepare for elementary, but to also go back to get my elementary k-6. You can probably guess the rest on how difficult it was!

I love that illustration with the owl...teeheheeee....teaching is NOT for the faint of heart, but for those who dare to live each day out as a lesson for the self. Congratulations, and I wish you many, many years of joy, self-discovery and POWER to love.
