Planting A Garden, Watching It Grow

Spring is coming soon, I can feel it.  I like spring, but it reminds me a little of my dad, who I lost at the young age of 28.  He used to have a garden that was across the street from our house when I was growing up, and I used to go over there and help him water and talk with him for a long time.  I heard a song today that reminded me of him.  He's been gone for many years, but he is always with me.

Here is spring in my area,
and a little of this and that.

I will plant a garden
this spring, dad,
and when I do, I'll think of you.

My dear friend, what a lovely post... I can understand your love for Spring, but also your reluctance to have it come. It's always hard when things or certain times remind of us a precious loved one. My sweet Grandma Betty passed away only 4 days after my birthday. I get excited for my b-day, but I also dread it because I know I will also be remembering the loss of a dear woman.

Anyway... your photos are lovely! Have a wonderful day, dear Sheri. Hugs to you!

I am so sorry to read that you face problems when visiting my blog...
I think that I know the reason... It might be the number of comments that I get in every single post, that are always more than 200... I also have problems with this as the administrator, but unfortunatelly, I have no solution to this...
Thanks for your sweet words and we 'll keep in touch at your blog! Don't worry: You will not get rid of me that easy!!!
;-)

Enjoy this springtime, sweetheart!!!
Hugs and kisses!

One of my Dad's love was landscaping and creating a beautiful yard. Everyone knew him for that. He loved to make things grow. He's been gone for 20 years, but I still miss him as much today as then...maybe more so.
In Heaven, he's creating there gardens for all to enjoy. :)

Sheri, I love your pictures. You dad was probably a great gardener. I only remember my folks having two huge gardens. But some times they would have tomato plants only. I think gardening in a container would be fun too. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

Dear Sheri,
This post has touched my heart.. Oh I know he is looking down at you with a smile. Funny you know, how certain things stay with us always... Special moments, scents and images..
I think of my parents everyday, and when I smell oatmeal, and coco I think of mom, and when I see something ever so creative, I think of dad. And when a man walks past me wearing Old spice, it makes me smile..
Thank you for sharing your sweet memories.
blessings dear friend,
Penny

Hi Sheri! What a wonderful post! I am so happy to see some bright blooms in your area! We will have to wait a few more weeks for anything like that! My garden always reminds me of my mom and grandmother, they were great gardeners! What a sweet remembrance of your dad. :)

Dear Sheri,

Instead of BUT you could use an AND in that first sentence. The but makes me think you're sad with the memory...

And you're Blessed for having such a wonderful season remind you of an Amazing Human Being. Oh my, to see a bloom and think of his garden and the times you shared on it and beyond. If that didn't happen you wouldn't have been such a blessing for so many people.

“Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.”
― Dr. Seuss

I'm smiling and wont even grumble about the (crazy) weather going on here. You made me, for a while, smile and love Spring so much. To think of your Dad waiting for it so he could indulge his passion and involve you in it.

This morning I noticed that your rose bush has tiny - minuscule - buttons in it. 2 weeks ago it was so sad I thought it would never recover. One week ago it started sprouting leaves, tiny and sweet, and now little buttons announce Spring. The same Spring I'll now think of your father caring for and enjoying.

That but made me think it was a season you would face with a bit of sadness and I want none of it for you... Smile, Beautiful!

Yours,
Teresa

What a lovely tribute to your dad. Wonderful memories indeed. Love all the pictures of spring in the air. It is bitterly cold here today. So your photos make me feel nice and warm.

Dear Sheri, what a sweet post, filled with lovely images and memories of your father. I too learnt to garden watching my Dad as a little girl. He always had roses, especially red ones! It is so hot again here, I can't wait to see the Spring blossoms over in America. Have a nice weekend. xx

Sheri, this is a precious post. I'm so sorry that you lost your father, and so young. But he left you with so many wonderful memories and gave you your love of gardening and nature.

My sisters and I lost our father, a passionate gardener, when he was in his 70s, still far too young, but we knew that he would be tending the gardens in heaven.

Your photos are lovely and I love the "Get back to your roots."

I understand exactly what you mean, Sheri. I lost my dad when I was 21 years old. I have often thought he was the only person that ever loved me unconditionally. Even ALL these years later there is not a day that goes by that I don't think of him. He loved gardens and planting fields and tending the land he loved.
Thanks- this was a great post. xo Diana

Good morning dearest friend....

I find myself being later and later these days to my favorite blogs, though I come faithfully every morning. But everyone seems to post after I leave for work!

This is such a joyful post - I have been writing my poetry and my father is in one of my poems, and seeing your mention your father here is a sweet blessing. What GORGEOUS photos you share of those cherry blossoms, these roses, THE BIRDS! It is so hard to grasp the concept that many of you are having spring already, and we are still in a deep freeze. BUt, things are looking up; today is our 33rd wedding anniversary, and it is going to turn warmer tomorrow - up to 50 DEGREES! YAHOO!

And...did you call again? I noticed on my phone that there was a message?

Oh how I loved hearing your voice...this weekend will be tough since Ruben and I will be celebrating all weekend long. But may we speak again during the week?

HUGS HUGS HUGS! Anita

Hi Sheri....Guess what? My Dad always had a garden, too, and he's been gone since 1989. Yes, our parents never really leave us, do they? They live in our hearts.

Loved your spring photos. PUL-EESE send some spring here, will ya? Well, admittedly, the sun is out today. Grateful for that. Susan

Such lovely pictures Sheri. I am in frozen Maine, with tons and tons of snow. Spring seems so far away from us. These were a delight to see. ~ Abby

I understand. Every time I go to the ocean I think of my grandfather, because he lived in Newport Beach on the water. And every time I see figs I think of my other grandfather that had a fig tree in his yard.

Amazing what sparks that feeling, isn't it?

Beautiful pictures :)
