A Girl After My Own Heart

Yesterday, I had coffee with an old friend from childhood.  She reminded me that we actually met in third grade!

We used to play our 45 singles on her turn table record player listening to Michael when he was in The Jackson 5.

Growing up, my friend would go to the local bead shop, gather the beads that she bought, and make the most creative necklaces and bracelets.

photo of me in eighth grade

Us seventh and eighth graders all loved the popular scent of musk, and would wear it any chance we got.

Through the years we've always managed to stay in touch with each other.  To one of my great long life friends, I love you.

Sheri, the dress your mother made you reminds me of some my mother made for my youngest sister--very much in style then! We were lucky to have a mother who sewed for their daughters.

And what a wonderful thing to have a friend you've known since elementary school! That's a gift!

I had the posters on my bedroom wall of these and others...like Bobby Sherman and David Cassidy. And wow, Musk. I had forgotten about those days. A ton of memories just flew over me. :)

Hello there my friend! I'm just taking a break from my relaxing reading time, and here you are! YES, I wore musk too! And like you, my sweet mother sewed all my clothing, especially the latest fashions. I even helped design/alter patterns to tweak some of McCall's or Butterick or Simplicity patterns! Remember those?

I emailed my friend this morning; I don't have her number, but hopefully she'll respond.

Enjoy your day sweet one! Anita

A lovely post full of happy memories Sheri. I still remember little Michael Jackson singing Ben (loved it!)
You girls would have enjoyed all the beaded necklaces back in those days. I still see a friend from school too, and while she lives in another state, when we meet we continue the conversation as if we'd only seen each other yesterday!

Thank you for your wonderful comment on my post Sheri! It's always so good to hear from you. The photos of my plants are taken with a Canon 600D DSLR, and I like to use it whenever I have a chance, which is not very often these days.

Sheri, you are so lucky to be able to keep friendship with your school friend. I enjoyed reading your reflection. Wish you an excellent week! Bx

Hi Dear Sheri!
Back from my delightful visit to celebrate Molly's Birthday and stopping by for a little visit. Of course this tender, loving and happy post brought back such wonderful memories and I really do remember musk! I am so thankful you have nourished your childhood friendships-they are most wonderful aren't they...
