The Song Of The Shepherd's Purse Fairy

Nel bought me this
book,
Flower Fairies of the Winter.

I read the whole
book, and I think my
favorite poem was
this one.

Though I'm poor to human eyes
Really I am rich and wise.
Every tiny flower I shed
Leaves a heart-shaped purse instead.

In each purse is wealth indeed~
Every coin a living seed.
Sow the seed upon the earth~
Living plants shall spring to birth.

Silly people's purses hold
Lifeless silver, clinking gold;
But you cannot grow a pound
From a farthing in the ground.

Money may become a curse;
Give me then my Shepherd's Purse.

The new year is upon us,
do you have any big plans?
These little fairies will
be traveling and
exploring.

~Sheri

Oh Sheri,
Such a thoughtful post and so true.
I love that you shared this poem with us. I feel as though you helped us set the tone for embracing the New Year, with a clear and deliberate mindset.
Oh, and you know I adore flowers, just like you-infact I have a post just about ready which includes a flower.
Happy New Year, Sheri!

Hi Sheri, Oh I do love your little fairy book and the poem is so sweet. The fairy is so beautiful. I will look for this book when I go to the book store. I have a small collection of fairies, love them.
I’m sure your little fairies will have a big year with their plans to travel! No big plans here but I look at the new year as an opportunity to get organized and back to a healthy diet.
Glorious header!
Wishing you dear friend all the best in the New Year.

These are the best gifts. The ones that show that money wasn't important, nor the stress for finding the perfect gift for the person who has all, but the gift that brings even closer two hearts that already beat, love and enjoy life together.
Wishing you and your fairies the Happiest New Year.
Blessings,
Teresa

That is a brilliant and ever so true poem dear Sheri! You picked a winner. How true. In the end, everyone will find out that clinking silver and gold cannot hold what the heart can: LOVE. And your fairies are sweet as can be. I wish you a most PERFECT new year and another one to spend TOGETHER. Much love, Anita
