Monday's Child Is Fair Of Face

When I had my babies, back in the day, I wanted to go all natural, so I took Lamaze classes, and delivered all three of my children without medication.  Lamaze is known for its rhythmic breathing techniques, which emphasize concentration and relaxation by using focal points.  Nel and my son took about 7 hours, and can you believe I had Jess in 1 hour!  She was my biggest baby, almost 9 pounds, and she turned out to be my smallest child.  Funny how things change.  They were all special and unique in their own way.

This is the poem that I used as my focal point when I delivered Nel.

Monday's child is fair of face,
Tuesday's child is full of grace.
Wednesday's child is full of woe,
Thursday's child has far to go.
Friday's child is loving and giving,
Saturday's child works hard for a living.
And the child that is born on the Sabbath Day
Is fair and wise and good and gay.

What day of the week were
YOU
born on?

What a great poem! I have no idea what day of the week I was born, I wasn't exactly wanted and was considered more of a burden. I wonder if there is any way to figure out what day it was?!?!?!

I, too, had my little one without any medication. When I told the nurses I didn't want anything they looked at me a little oddly, but in the long run it was well worth it :)

I was born on a Wednesday - how sad that I am a child of woe! haha :)

Cute post, sweet friend. May your day be blessed. Love and hugs!

I was Born on a thursday .
You can easy find on the internet what day you were Born.
In Holland , when I had my four children , it was normal to stay at home to give birth ....
Without medication was also the norm.
So my children were Born in the house I still live in .
Thank you for sharing this .

Oh, this is fun. You always have the BEST ideas for posts

My son was born on a Friday; and he's loving and giving.

My daughter was born on a Wednesday; and she's definetly full of woe.

I was born on a Thursday and apparently I have far to go. Well, I did. Even if only virtually. I reached you, didn't I? ;) And you reached me back ahahah.

Both my kids were born by C-section. TMI aside (don't want your son or hubby stopping by and knowing entirely toooo much ;)) they were big and "I" wasn't ahahah. Since my eldest was in suffering they put me to sleep and made an emergency C-section. I spotted him a few hours later and recognised him instantly from the scan. TRUE! Exactly the same profile and the same calm, loving baby as he was inside. As he still is today.

With her I wanted to see so I asked for epidural - worst experience of my life - and I did get to see her 2 seconds after she was born. She looked like a nordic goddess-baby with a mood of "she was angry by and with all and she wasn't about to put up with" ahahah. She's still so much the same.

This is really fun and thank you for bringing back memories of two happiest days of my life.

Love,
Teresa

Awh, this is precious, Sheri. Love the picture, the poem, and your words. I took Lamaze classes too, our son was born in six hours and our daughter in three, completely natural.
I was born on a Saturday and it is my absolute favorite day of the week.

Good question, and I don't know! As the eldest of six, I didn't get much information like that. Maybe there is a Google way to find out..
I did the Lamaze classes too - then ended up with three Caesarians!

I did LaMaze with my kids, too. It was a wonderful "tool" and they don't use it much at all anymore. Now it is all about an epidural almost immediately. I felt so good right after giving birth I could have walked a marathon, I think. lol

That is my favorite child's verse...and my dad often quoted it to me- I was born early Sunday morning.

My only brother was born on a Saturday...and it fit him perfectly- xo Diana

I've not heard of the Lamaze classes but I'm amazed that Jess was born in just one hour (It's obviously a great technique!) I've not heard this poem for such a long time and in fact I used to know it off by heart. I was born on a Sunday! Thank you for your comment on 70s fashion. It's always a pleasure to read your thoughts. By the way, your blog is looking fabulous with the white background and the pretty heading.

Hi Sheri,
I had left a comment but must be floating around blogland..

No time for pain med with my daughter, she was delivered 20 minutes after I arrived at the hospital..
I was born on a Sunday...
Love the photos of the kittens.
Thank you so much for your visit.
I think what makes it magical is the beautiful stage created by Dore, owned by Vera, which she decorated so beautifully.

That is a beautiful poem Sheri. You are blessed with 3 beautiful children. I didn't have the opportunity to try Lamaze as I only have my daughter but (sadly) few miscarriages.
I love those cute little kittens.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend dear.

Hi Sheri,

Great post and thanks for sharing - I was born on Thursday - child has far to go - ha!
We went to natural birth classes and had a good delivery with both our babies Victoria was born in 5 hours and I only had gas and Marcel was a home birth and born in 3 hours.
In the morning he was born I was baking peanut brownies and a banana cake - so we were able to sit on the floor with a cup of tea and cake after he arrived - sweet moment.
happy Sunday dear friend.
hugs
Carolyn

My day was on a Tuesday so I guess I'm full of grace.

When I had my first born, they didn't offer natural childbirth classes and gas was the all they had. It was a terribly frightful experience especially not knowing what to expect. I had to go through all the stages of labor and when it was time for the birth, they gave me gas and I can't remember a thing? My daughter was natural but only because of complications. Originally, I was supposed to have had a spinal. Both were different but after having one child, I knew what to expect...sorta! LOL
