Jolly Green

Since it's almost St. Patrick's Day, I wanted to pass on to you an Irish saying.

Wishing you always....
walls for the wind,
a roof for the rain
and tea beside the fire.
Laughter to cheer you,
those you love near you,
and all that your heart may desire.

We were married by an Irish Catholic Priest, and as a gift, he gave us four Irish coffee glasses.  They have never broken after 33 years, and they will always remind me of our jolly, dear Irish friend.

My kids are part Irish on their father's side.  What about you....do you have any Irish heritage?

I've always enjoyed reading and learning about St. Patrick's Day, since it's not common in Greece...

Love the poem Sheri… No Irish blood on my side, just Italian. Your little statue is very cute holding a shamrock, and what a nice gift your priest had given you!
Happy Monday,

I don't, but one of my favorite authors is Marian Keyes, who is Irish, and her books have made me fall in love with this country. Happy St Patrick's Day! (The glasses are so beautiful!)

Lovely post. No Irish on my side (we're Scots), but we discovered there's some Irish blood on my husband's side a few generations back.

Sheri, I have no Irish, but I wish I did--they're so spunky. I love the coffee glasses--and the fact that they've survived 33! years. I also love the color of the shamrock. Looks like tourmaline to me. Have a great week!

Love,
Mary

I really like those Irish coffee glasses. No Irish here except for my first name. In my bloodline, all you will find is Italian. :)
Have a great week!

I love Ireland & Irish coffee, but no Irish blood running through my veins. I'm a 50/50 kind of girl, half Dutch and half Asian.

My dear Sheri, thank you for visiting me and your lovely thoughtful comments. You are a sweetheart! 🌹🌹
Thank you for adding me to your side bar. I really appreciate that. I love to blog and share a piece of my humble life here in OZ. But sometimes my very busy job takes a lot of my time, the reason I can't post as many as I wanted to. I've noticed you don't change the picture on your header and I like it coz its unique with red rose sitting on the vintage luggage. When I see it, I know its your blog and that is your trademark. I will check out Kim's blog.
And oh I'm impressed with how much you've looked after those Irish coffee glasses. You are amazing! 👍

I don't have a drop of Irish blood in me (but you never know, with my ties to Spain!) but I love THE MUSIC, the language and the people. Oh Sheri, happy day! Love to you my friend, Anita

Hi Sheri: The flowers on my last post are a few from last year's garden. The small Victorian house I was lucky enough to find on the net.
Have a great day!

Hi Sheri,

I think there is a bit of Irish on my dad's side of the family. My grandmother, on my dad's side had some Irish. I remember her brother and some of her cousins had the red hair and fair complexions.

My great, great grandparents on my dad's side and my mom's family came from Germany. There is also Swiss, a bit of the Irish and some nordic ancestry too. Quite a mixed bag! LOL. I guess that is why all of my brothers and sisters had pure white hair and fair complexions. Although, I had more red in my complexion and therefore did not burn when I was out in the sun like some of my siblings.

Well coming from Liverpool orginally I have lots of Irish heritage!

I am also called Keri and have red hair so no disguising it either!

Also on my husband's side - my married name is Gray and his grandmother is Irish. Love my Irish heritage but my father in law drives us nuts playing Irish folk music ALL the time :-)

My great grandmother and grandfather immigrated from county Galway, Ireland. I traveled to Ireland in 1995 to visit their birthplaces.
We have always embraced our Irish heritage.

Your Irish coffee mugs are delicate and beautiful. How lovely it is that the priest who married you is also a friend.

The priest that married Mr D and I almost 41 years ago is no longer a priest. We casually joke about it and wonder if we are still married.
Sláinte!
