Nothing Like An Old Friend

I recently went to lunch with one of my very dear friends.  We have been friends since high school, but I've known Dana since grade school.   She has such a pretty smile that brightens my day every time I see her.
We are two flowers
of the same kind.

(This is me at the park).

Have a peaceful

Where Flowers Bloom

I can always tell that spring is going to arrive when I see the pink blossom trees ready to come alive.  They are all around my town - up and down the streets, in the parks, and even in the neighborhoods.  They are so pretty, and I love seeing them as I drive by.

Brilliant Flower

Most of the blog friends that we have are from different states or countries, so I thought it would be interesting to them to see our State flower, the California Poppy.

The petals are thin, and the color is a vibrant lovely orange.  I saw a few blooming on a hillside one day while taking a walk.

What is the flower
that represents your
area?  We would
love to know.

Downtown Outings

This past weekend, I was wandering around a new place

with camera in hand of course.

I came across these unique hang-outs.

A bunny bar??

Yes, please :-)

I could have stayed in this outdoor library patio all afternoon if my boyfriend let me!

It's always a pleasure to explore some place new.

A Precious Winter Day

There were no
birds singing

There were no
flowers blooming

The trees were
bare on this
cold, dreary morning.

I was sipping on
my morning coffee.

I asked God,
"please bring me
one of your beautiful
creatures so I
can take a picture
of it."

A short while later,
to my surprise,
a hummingbird appears
right in front of me.

It's such a small bird,
yet brings BIG
smiles every time
I see it,
especially that day.

The hummingbird,
a perfect gift.

A Sweet Gift

My husband asked me,
"Did they come yet?"
I answered, "what?"

I looked on the
front porch and saw a
big box.  I guess
they delivered it when
I wasn't home.

I opened the box,
and in it was
12 perfect red roses,
a card, and a
box of chocolates.

What a surprise!

Yes, it was a
sentimental day
for me.

A Box Of Chocolates

When me and my husband were dating, I went to his house one day to visit him.  His mom brought out a box of chocolates to make me feel special and welcomed.  She went on doing the things she had to do, while me and boyfriend kept on visiting.  I took a bite in one of the chocolates from the box, didn't like the nougat, so put it back.  I took another bite from a new piece and didn't like the filling, and put it back.  I know, who does that, right?  I have to remind you I was only 17, and I guess I just wanted that perfect chocolate.  Boyfriend just laughed at the time, and his family still teases me about it to this day.  Luckily, they are good-humored people and didn't throw me out of the house haha.

I still like the middle of desserts and foods, but now I have a bit more self control and take the piece that was meant for me.  When my kids visit me, I always give them the middle piece of everything.  Now, I want them to have the best.

Won't you have a
piece of cake with me?

You See Your Gypsy

When I was in school, there was a fun game going around where classmates  were given a character based on their personality and appearance.  My best friend, at the time, was voted as a belly dancer, and looking back I can see why -- she was such a pretty girl.  Another friend of mine was voted as an athlete, and yet another was thought to resemble a musician.  Can you guess what I was voted as?

A Gypsy
Maybe because I
had long curly
hair and a free spirit.

To this day, I think
I still have the heart of
a Gypsy,

and I still love the
song Gypsy sung by
Stevie Nicks.

To the Gypsy
that remains......
