New Year's Night In

My boyfriend and I decided to spend New Year's Eve at home this year since we were tired from holiday travel and low on the funds.

But this didn't necessarily mean we were going to have a boring New Year's Eve.

I always seem to have a little festivity up my sleeve. ;-)

I surprised him by creating a restaurant in my own dining room.

We dressed up as if we were going to a fancy restaurant and made fondue together.

It turned out delicious! If you would like the recipe, click here.

This would be a fun and inexpensive date night for Valentine's Day or any other special occasion.

This is a splendid idea. I think I'm going to do this during the warm months as I would love to take photos of our café style enclosed porch. Thanks for the great idea, Jess! Happy New Year to you and the rest of the family! Anita

How creative! I love it. I think you could also do a desert bar with a chocolate fountain. But I love those upside down champagne glass candle holders. So cute!

Love the café theme and fondue. What a great idea.
We always stay in for New Year's Eve. Dinner and a movie has become our favorite choice, Gone with the Wind among our top films, "After all, tomorrow is another day." ;) This year we included When Harry Met Sally which was timed perfectly with the New Year's Eve scene.
Happy New Year, Jess, to you and your loved ones.

Love it, these sort of evenings are always the best. After being married to my hubby for 51 yrs we often have evenings like this, choosing to eat what we would usually eat at our favourite restaurant and we can both have our wine without having to order a taxi, which is not easy where we live, miles away in the country. Happy new year to you and your family.

What a wonderful idea - I'm sure it was more delightful than going out where it's crowded, cold food and to loud. Can have a drink and not worry about a DUI. How romantic.
You go girl.....

Wow Jess that’s the best idea ever. I’m finding that going out on new years eve is somewhat overrated so I love this idea. I adore how you went to so much effort with the place cards and the menus and decorations. This sounds perfect.
