Back in Order

I have been an organizing machine lately.

My mail, documents, and miscellaneous clutter were really starting to pile up.

Since the new year, I have been making an effort to organize my home and life little by little each day.

It's still a work in progress, but I must say it feels GREAT to de-clutter and even re-decorate parts of my home.

When I was growing up, Mom always told us "Out with the old, and in with the new." I always remember this when I feel like I need a bit more space.

Have you started any projects in the new year?

Yes I have. I too started to declutter and now that I have a new Samsung Galaxy tablet, I threw out my old paper calendar and have even cleaned out my purse! My table fits in there, and my writing station here at home is also more manageable!

KEEP GOING, JESS! Anita

Yes! Jess!
I am on a mission of organization!
I am half way there! By the end of 2014, this place is going to be cleared and clean! We have 30 plus years of stuff. This year it's clearing under and above the rafters, and lastly the clutter sorting staging area of the garage!
Congratulations on your progress!
Happy New Year!

It looks as though everyone, including me, has had the need to get rid of the clutter...
For me it is the paperwork and closets.
Enjoy your day Jess

Jess, it appears from the comments you are definitively not alone in your aspirations.
We have only been on the island 11 years but it seems we have accumulated quite a bit...'Out with the old, in with the new' is an expression I have heard before...It still startled ex-RAF flyboy (he will be on his guard now for the next few months fearing 'his' stuff might very well disappear...!)
Go, go, go Dear! It feels marvelous, does it not?!

Hi agree! Out with the old and in with the new:) De cluttering is so important. I can't think when there is no space. Minimalism is a wonderful thing as is staying organized. Your approach of doing a little each day is a good one:)

This is looking very well organised so far. I definitely think it's really important to make an effort with getting organised, it makes a huge difference. I did a little decluttering over the break but still a long way to go.

I am a naturally organised person. My family are always complaining I hide their stuff. Not true! I tend to imagine where it could be put to look organised and create a pattern that gets repeated until it becomes natural. It's so natural in me to do so. My son too. But dear husband and daughter are a bit resistant.
I have a theory that drive them crazy - if during a year you didn't use it you really don't need it so give it away so new things that you can and will use make way to your life.
I love seeing people taking a grip on their lives. And that's what decluter and organisation it is.
The photos you shared are so inspiring...
Happy New Year Sweet Jess!

I so need to declutter! I'm like you...I have stacks and piles of things that I need to sort through on my desk. My Mom would say and still does, "Do it Now." And "Handle Things Once." I need to be better at that as I handle things over and over...haha...

Thanks for your inspiration Jess...now come on over and help me out. lol...

Hi Jess, Yes, I love to declutter and get reorganized after Christmas. When everything from the holiday is put away, I purge the closets, clean and organize my desk and drawers. Love the feeling when things are in order.

Yours is looking good and inspiring. Great way to start a new year. Thanks for sharing!!

Hi Sheri~~ have a blessed week.

It does feel great to de-clutter although I always dread doing it! I had a clear-out and trips to the charity shop before Christmas and we are just planning to re-decorate too. We now have lots of wallpaper samples so we are busy choosing! Have a lovely weekend!
