Sweet Inspiration

This last weekend, Jess and I spent an enchanting evening at the theater--we had tickets to the Nutcracker!

The graceful dancers, the creative costumes, and the festive music make this one of our very favorite holiday traditions.

It was a beautiful performance, but this year I have to say that I was really inspired by all the yummy treats for sale during intermission.

So I thought I'd do a little holiday baking of of my own...

Turtle Cookies are one of my Christmas-time favorites!

Cocoa cookies rolled in walnuts, a dollop of caramel, and dark chocolate drizzle--I can't think of a sweeter way to celebrate the season.

What merry treats are you baking these days?

I think I'll try cookies... never did but Jess' post on it convinced me I should try.

Now I have been to pinterest and there are like thousands and thousands of great recipes and just by looking at pics I feel a sugar overload ahahahahah

I might try your turtle ones... if they turn out ok - it's time for miracles, right? ;) - I'll share my thanks and a picture.

Glad you had fun at ballet and decided to prolong the fun and enjoyement by cooking.

Thank you for sharing,
T

What fun! I haven't been to the Nutcracker since our daughter was growing up when it was an annual tradition. Turtle cookies! Yum!

My main treat to bake are Viennese Sandwich cookies but this is the first year for me not to bake a fruitcake in decades. We're the only two who eat it and we don't need it!

How lovely to have seen the Nutcracker. My first Christmas here in France, I took my daughter to see this ballet, as it didn't matter that I couldn't understand the language.

I bow my head in shame, I have never seen the Nutcracker. It must have been great. As for the baking, I have, for the first time in my life, decided to go on a diet; your post made me salivate desperately !!x

YUMMALISH!

I made French MENDIANTS the other night and that was a load of fun. Easy:

Melt down 8 oz. of good dark chocolate
pour melted chocolate onto parchment paper, then top the disks with dried fruit and nuts and pomagranate seeds...let cool and harden and you have a traditional Provençal 13 desserts treat! Anita

I don't do a lot of baking..I can't eat any gluten so it takes much of the fun out of it. Your treats look yummy though. We used to go to the nutcracker every year. much fun.

Dear, dear Sheri and girls,

First of all Sheri, thank you so much for coming to visit my post again! I love that song, and I can never hear it TOO MUCH as well. It is so powerful to me to have that constant beat of the drum and the accapella singing, to just allow the SPIRIT resonate in our hearts.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL! Anita
