A Christmas Fairy

I know, I know
I love fairies,
but when I saw this
Christmas fairy
I couldn't resist.

The red leggings
and booties
were darling.

And do you notice
the red rose
she is carrying?

I have a few fairies
now, so I bought a
small lit-up tree to
display them all.

This is my
favorite one.

I will put my
Christmas fairy
on the very top
of the tree.

Do you have a
decorated tree
with a theme?

A Wedding Gift to Treasure

When I was home for Thanksgiving this past weekend, my mom presented me with a very special wedding gift that traveled to us in California all the way from Portugal.

Many thanks to our dear friend Val at Val's Alentejo for these lovely linens.

Don't you just adore the beautiful patterns?

Enclosed in the card was a delightfully scented rose sachet.

It brought me back to my wedding day and the beautiful flowers that colored our celebration.

I'll be thinking of our dear friend from Portugal when I spread out these linens for afternoon tea.

Thank you Val! Your thoughtful gift brightened my day.

Apple Hill

We went to Apple Hill this weekend.  It's our favorite place to go in Northern California.  The girls bought apples and apple butter to take home with them. The apples are so delicious there, a very different taste from the stores.

We each had a piece
of apple pie.  Jess'
caramel apple pie
was amazing.

We browsed through
all the Christmas
trees.  I wish I could
take one home with me.

I love this little
bench under the tree.

After, we went
to Grandma's house,
and the views at her
home are beautiful.

I wonder what critter
is living in this tree?

Simply Starbucks

The holiday drinks are out at Starbucks! What is your favorite drink?

Maybe it's one of the Lattes? Gingerbread, Eggnog or Caramel BrulĂ©e?

Or perhaps it is the Peppermint Mocha, which is my personal favorite.

Or maybe your choice is a simple cup of coffee.

Could it possibly be a steaming cup of tea?

Just Because

I took these
random pictures
just because...

I thought the
colors in this
tree were
so pretty.

Love the pink
socks this girl
was wearing
while walking
in the park.

A perfect
"dunk".

Me and my
three kids,
always and
forever.

This rose,
still blooming
in the Autumn.

Yummy...

random pictures
are the nicest

Surprise In The Mail

I won a giveaway!
I don't win giveaways
often, so I wanted to...
My friend, Heidi, from HH Photography sent me a surprise in the mail yesterday.  It is a little "Girl wearing a wolf mask" print by the Illustrator, Paola Zakimi from Argentina.  The print is signed by the artist.  Heidi wrapped the present so nicely and also included a compact mirror and card.
Thank you, Heidi.
I love my gift.
I will put it on my
desk and think of
my sweet friend
always.
Speaking of gifts...
Have you went
Christmas
shopping yet?

That Time of Year

It's finally feeling like Autumn here in Southern California.

We've had a late summer,

but the temperature has finally dropped.
The jackets, boots, and scarves have been pulled out!

It's that time of year for warm apple cider, fireside lounging, and Thanksgiving preparations.

Have a cozy weekend, friends.

She Loved Pink

My niece passed away recently, and I am thinking about her much lately.  Kris reminds me alot of myself.  She had long hair, loved kids, loved fashion, and loved Pink.  She used to always dress so stylish, and had such a pretty smile.  She had a day care in her home at one time and was so patient with children of all ages.  When our kids were small, we used to all hang out together.

Her sister spoke at the funeral and said that Kris had the best attitude even up until the end, and made the doctors and nurses often laugh.  She was only 43 years old.  Her great grandmother came over and talked with me at the funeral, and I thought she was so gracious and kind.  It was a sad day, but at the same time I got to meet the special family that is a part of this person, and I learned about many interesting talents she had that I never knew.

When I was out yesterday, I came across this bottle of wine.  The label on it says Kris, and it has a picture of a hand holding a heart.  I thought it was perfect, and someday me and my family will open it and celebrate Kris' life.

Let us embrace the people we love today.  Their time with us is so precious.

Rest in peace, Kris.  I will always remember your radiant smile.
