Merry Music

Whether you're out and about holiday shopping...

Or all curled up on the sofa with a warm cup of cocoa...

Christmas music always makes things a little more merry!

We just love to listen to all the Christmas classics during the holiday season. Here are a few of our favorites.

Nothing puts Jess in the holiday spirit like the classic Christmas song "Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire." Nat King Cole's recording warms all of our hearts.

Originally composed by Mykola Leontovych in 1904, "Carol of the Bells" is my personal favorite. It's such a beautiful and passionate piece.

It's hard for my Mom to pick a favorite because she loves Christmas music so much!

When we were little, we would all sit around the Christmas tree and sing carols. Even when we got older, she always wanted to sing, and it would crack us up when we came home for Christmas and there was Mom, gathering us into the living room to sing holiday songs!

"Silent Night" was always a favorite. And who sings it better than Frank Sinatra?...Except maybe Mom, of course...( ;

And how can you talk about Christmas music without mentioning classics like "Silver Bells," "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen," "Let It Snow," "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," and all of the other beautiful, spirited songs that help us to celebrate this special time of year?

Well, you simply can't. If you have a favorite Christmas song we forgot to mention, we'd just love to hear it.

On a final merry note, this home light show to "Carol of the Bells" is a must-see. How fun would it be to put on a production like this!

 Happy Listening!

Hi Nel, well you have taken me right back to my childhood with your music choices, especially Burl Ives !!! His voice was so rich and beautiful and he was one of my grandmothers favourites. Thank you for sharing and reminding me of lovely Christmases gone by.

LOVE 'em all. Carols are always playing at our house during the month of December. I always get in the spirit of things when I first hear... We Need a Little Christmas Now and Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. Take care.

I have two different reactions to Christmas music, some of it puts me in the mood to decorate and bake, etc. as I am bopping around singing along. But there are other songs which bring me to tears, like "I'll Be Home For Christmas" (personal memory from way back in 1978 and still gets me). xo

Christmas music would not be music without all the old time great's. I'm so lucky that my husband is a fan of Christmas music and plays it all the season. He has no favorite, likes it all, but mine is also Silent Night along with Winter Wonderland and The Little Drummer Boy..I love the songs sung the traditional way but dont mind who is singing them...
Let the music begin..

Hi ladies,
You have every single one of my fav's too. Nat King Cole being my most fav.
Is that someone's real house? Dancing lights, I love it, and to music? WOW.
I always wished I could sing and play the piano. My mom loved to dance, but singing, well, let's just say I take after her, lol. Oh how I miss her right now. Daughters and mothers. LOVE. My daughter turned 23 today. Her name is Brittany. Now SHE can sing. AMAZING, but that's another story ; )
LOVED your post tonight Nel,

PS) Because we have always lived in two places at a time(until recently) my absolute favorite Christmas Song is ALL THOSE CHRISTMAS CLICHES by Nancy Lamott. I forgot to mention it last time I was here. I LOVE it so much I just wanted to share. If you've never heard it, give it a try.

I Love Merry Music, Nel! I really do and in the fashion of females since Eve, I listen to it until I start feeling a bit sick... but, hey, that's what pleasures are for aren't they?! ;)

I have a dvd I cherish very much that is from Carols Sung or Played at Vatican by all over the world Artists. Beyond Magical.

Then I have several CDs with Christmas Chantings, that go from the very traditional to several in languages I can't undertand but love all the same listening to it. Add children voices' and I'm in lalaland.

Merry Christmas Sweet Girl!
