Fall Fashion Fun

One of my favorite things about Fall is shopping for the new seasonal fashions!

When we were little, my mom used to take Jess and I out for a fun-filled day of back-to-school shopping.

We'd wake up bright and early so we could be at the mall by the time it opened. While we waited for each store to roll up its gate, we'd sit at the mall bakery snacking on warm blueberry and cream cheese filled croissants and cold milk sipped through fun colored straws.

After a long day of shopping, we'd emerge from the mall with bags stuffed full of new Fall finds and have a late afternoon lunch at the park. These are some of my and Jess's favorite childhood memories.

So every fall before I begin the new semester, I try and treat myself to a few nice pieces. Here's what I got this year...

I just loved the detail on the neckline of this dress!

These shoes are perfect for teaching...super cute, but not too high so I can walk around campus comfortably.

Argyle is so very Fall!

I loved the fun (and familiar) black and white design of this dress!

Earrings are my favorite accessories! The more dangly the better, as far as I'm concerned.

This is one of my favorite sweaters. It's just perfect for those chilly late-Fall semester mornings.

I just got this new perfume at Disneyland when Jess and I went this weekend (lots of fun pictures to be posted soon!). It smells so light and feminine with hints of jasmine and orange blossom, and it's called "Dance," which I thought was fitting for the way teachers "dance" from subject to subject throughout the school year.

I hope you enjoyed our Fall fashion post! I want to end with a pretty painting my mom found a few years ago. Jess and I just loved it, and we all felt connected to a different fashionable woman in the portrait. Here "we" are! ( ;

Happy Fall Fashion!

Great and loving memories do that - make us want to revisit the moments and experiences, not quite the act per si but the emotions lived in them.

That we-and-mum suggesting painting reminds me a quote:

Painting is just another way of keeping a diary. ~Pablo Picasso

You and Jess and blessed, and so is your Mum for investing in quality time in family. A win-win chance that your post (and memories) proves what a great job she's doing.

Love and wishes of a fabulous week,
Teresa

I was out this weekend and I was checking out the new fall fashions!!
Is it a NJ thing, or is the Poncho making a comeback where you are too? I love the poncho look, but I swore if I bought it, I would look stupid!!!
Your pieces are fabulous!! You will be the most fashionable teacher around!!!

Cottage and Broome,
Oh, that's not a picture of the girls when they were little - just something I picked up along the way, although Jess has always been a blonde and Nel a brunette. I hope you have fun shopping in NYC with your daughter!!

Nel,
Those blueberry and cream cheese croissants were the best!! Remember we would go bright and early and get the first warm ones that were made? I love that you have sweet memories of the school shopping. I still love to go shopping for Fall clothes even today. That blue dress, oh my. You are going to look wonderful in that!
Love you.

Wonderful nostalgic post, Nel! It must warm your mom's heart, too, to think of those old shopping days with her "little girls". I just love "back to school" shopping and wardrobes, even when they're not my own! I think you'll look smashing in that blue dress, and the cute heels! For me it was always Red Plaid. And new red shoes!!
I used to live just down the street from Disneyland, but haven't been there in EONS. I look forward to those pix.
Have a great semester, and thank your mom for coming by!

Hi Nel
It's funny how we remember different times in our lives with our moms.
I remember Jan. the most. We would drive to Montreal (cuz they were so stylish, and still are) and go to this BIG MALL. My mom and I and sister would look for winter boots. Even though we were in the middle of winter already *(it snows like mad here in Canada) we always found just the "right" pair. And they were on SALE : )
You are going to look smashing Nel. Good for you for remembering such sweet memories with your mom and sis.
LOVE that painting of the 3 ladies. LOVE IT. And it does look like the 3 of you.

Oh how you brought back a flood of memories...shopping at Jordan Marsh in Fashion Square Mall...trying on platform shoes that I could never wear in public because of my horribly skinny legs and awkwardly tall body...should have embraced that more..lol!
Such fun getting a few new things at the start of a season, even when you're a grown up girl;)
Thanks for stopping by for a visit..and your words are so true! I loved on my 3 when they were little and went into teaching once they were all in school so I could have the same schedule with them. Wouldn't trade it for the world!
Embrace this day,
Christie

Love everything...shopping is such a fun thing for gals to do together. I am looking forward to having a new daughter-in-law to take on shopping excursions soon... I always love seeing the new seasonal things come out in the clothing/home decor area. I love shopping with a friend but also enjoy just heading over to Seattle and walking the streets and browsing the shops alone. Enjoy all your great fall finds! xoxo Kim
