A Pleasant Surprise

I was in the drive-up line getting coffee at Starbucks, and it was my turn to order.  The lady at the window said to me, "Good Morning, my love."  I just looked at her in surpirse.  Have you ever been called  "my love" when ordering something through drive through?  I know I haven't.  We talked a bit, I got my coffee, smiled, and drove away.  This was one cup of coffee that was especially good.  As I was driving home, I thought about how people can brighten your day with just a few words.  These flowers are for the lady at Starbucks, and for you...

Have a nice day, my love.

WOW! That fourth photo is the prettiest thing I have ever seen. What a nice lady! When people are kind like that it truly makes your day.

Hi there,
Smiles and nice comments are contagious! Ever notice how when someone is grumpy it just puts you into a bit of a grump, too? My Dad used to have a saying, "It only costs a little more to go first class and a smile is free!" Glad this nice lady brightened your day! The flowers are beautiful! Have a wonderful afternoon! xoxo Kim

Sheri, your photos are are exquisite captures. It is wonderful to find ANY ONE that smiles. It is hard to find. I saw in the paper just recently that stores are TRAINING (get that) their employees to smile & greet customers. For pete's sake ... 'training' just about got me. Don't people WANT to be pleasant without having to be trained? I like to just walk thru a store & smile at everyone, & usually they catch my smile & return it or occasionally they just look away.

We have this wonderful older gentleman who gathers carts for a local grocery store ... he smiles & waves & is a sweetie to everyone. A couple weeks ago I walked up & thanked im for his beautiful personality & tucked a money-gift in his hands ... in appreciation. He was stunned, & then finally got his tongue & thanked me.

I am so glad you came by to introduce yourself to me. I am following you.

Love your write of your Father. Beautiful.

Have a lovely holiday weekend.

Marydon,
Thank you for your sweet comments. I know what you mean about training the employees to be pleasant. What happened to those days when you were greeted by someone just cause they wanted to greet you, not because you were trained to? I love your blog too, and I will be visiting it often. I'm so glad that you stopped by, and thank you for following.

Sheri, thank you so much for visiting. What an honor to be found at Kim's place. Isn't she delightfully inspiring?

What a wonderful coffee experience. I often say even a simple smile can light up anyone's heart when you least expect it. So many ways to give.

I absolutely love your blog and the fact that you and your daughters are sharing it together. What a great idea.

I used to have the same kind of music over at my place and miss it. I think I gave in to too many blogging tips suggesting no music for more readers. What was I thinking? I love music.

I clicked on your follow and also added you to my sidebar blogroll of givers. I look forward to more visits. Maybe you can join us at my place for the White Christmas in July Blog Party coming up. Would be wonderful to see what you share.

Nice day to you too, my love. :)

Sweet, sweet Sheri,

I totally believe in the power of words. I am a language teacher, a fanatic for the written word, and an aspiring writer. But no where do words reach an audience as strongly as they do as when we hear them and see them come from someone right in front of us. There is a very jolly cashier at my local supermarket and she LIVES the LIFE...it is a big supermarket, in the city, but her words and terms of endearment to customers make everyone walk out of there happier than when they walked in, I am certain.

THANK YOU for YOUR kind words on my post today; I am honored that you would follow me and put me on your sidebar!!!! It is overwhelmingly kind of all bloggers who take the time to comment and to share. I really believe that blogging is a wonderful tool to get people (who are interested, of course) to put themselves OUT THERE...to compose, to share, to reach out. It is a great exercise in courtesy and helps us develop our communication skills. But the best part of all, is that the kind words that we leave and receive make us happy. THANK YOU AGAIN..I am going to push that FOLLOW BUTTON!!!! I so love your rose header!

Have a great fourth! Anita
